I think it's a bit lost tbh. But I'm not surprised I notice it a lot in Chinese dramas the ages are never consistent. It's always a range. So I only use their age gap as s good determiner of someone's age

I think they didn't want the drama to be a Xueying only story and remember the novel was all about him. So they sort of "balanced" it. But I think that was s mistake. How many dramas do we have with s super OP lead? I think the drama would stand on its own and they'll end it after defeating the demon clan.

Another tidbit from the novel you might like, in the novel there are deities and there are world deities. So there could be many deities from a world but s world deity controls the world itself. Xueying later became a guy with multiple deity hearts but he was also the world deity of the Xia Clan. So basically he owned the planet 😊

Xueying and Jingqiu loved each other a lot. And they ascended to god's together. I don't think they will get to that part so that's why they're only focusing on the human realm. I suspect they will end the drama when they both get strong.

Very different. I don't mind some of the changes it's just that the reason he trained alone is because that Black wind place is supposed to be impossible to survive so there's no way someone will actually go down with him. He was said to be protected by his anscestor bloodline and also pure ml halo. Also the major conflict of the book was bigger than the drama. It was s fight between Transcendents and really powerful demon generals do there's no way little students would help. They also didn't have to kill his father. As for his relationship with Jing qiu, I don't mind the changes they made to her. In the novel she wasn't fully fleshed out. She fell in love with him because he saved her and he was cool, strong etc. He also had good feelings towards her but their relationship only started when they became Transcendents. They trained in the same special place because Jing qiu is special too. She possesses an ancient weapon/she's the reincarnation of s powerful goddess. Her identity will later be revealed in the novel later. So I guess they could have allowed them to be Transcendents before doing the training sequences. Also Si Borong who is super annoying died very early in the novel. Finally Kong Youyue wasn't well defined in the book she was just a money hungry childhood friend of xueying who didn't like him cause he loved his spear too much. She later left and married someone else

Way better. In the novel Xue Ying became a Transcendent all by himself and never joined their Changfeng academy. Also he activated his bloodline. His mom and dad were imprisoned together and he saved them and then went on to the Transcendent world. There he became one of the most promising students and the reason is all because of his love for the spear. Actually they didn't make this drama epic enough and I don't know why. We have a lot of xianxia dramas with heavenly realm so how hard was it really to implement? When he fell down to black wind cliff in the novel he trained alone and got the inheritance of the Black wind god. Jingqiu was not there. Also the demon fight was a lot more epic. Idk the novel was just an overall experience that's missing. I'm just taking this story as something else altogether.

I am not too sure about that. Put it this way, after her parents find out about them. The end scene is after that. So we just need to wait for that 😂

I think it's more the fact that he has to wrestle with all of these things. Later, like in the novel it shows that he actually thought it through. Their relationship doesn't start when he discovers he starts liking her. He will ask to pursue her later and she will hesitate to accept. She will worry whether he likes her just because she likes him to. Both will be insecure for various reasons. Her for feeling she loves him more. Him, for thinking he doesn't deserve her and his life is messy. Having thought all of that through then deciding to still ask her out. I will admit that that doesn't seem as critical as him actively wrestling or coming to terms with falling for his besties sister but I still like it because I took it for what it was. More slice of life, more him basking in her sunny nature

And thats why the drama made a point to even reduce the age gap. It went from 7 to 5 just to avoid these kind of comments. She is 19 and he is 24. And they literally get together after she's 20. There's nothing more adult than that.

In the book he was distant but in a charming way. His smile is his mask. Both in the book and drama he told her that he had a scene asking why she stopped talking to him.

I think from when she goes to college it sort of defaults back to normal behaviour. From her hair, fashion, style and her friends all feel like what a young girl would act like. But don't forget Sang Zhi is like the baby of her family and DJX so everyone spoils her 🤣, she is mature sometimes and childish in other times.

It's just because they aged up her character without modifying some of the dialogue. It makes sense when she was 13, 14, 15 etc.

In the novel the scene after she confessed what her parents said and all that. They had sex for the first time. I think chapter 77+. It probably won't be in the drama but they might do the closed door thing where we see them on the bed the next morning.

They never dated. In fact the novel DJX threw up when she asked to marry him so I don't see that happening 😂

Drama aged her up so they can close the age gap. In the novel Jiaxu was 7 yrs older but now it's been brought to 5. Also, maybe they didn't want to show her at 13 to have all those feelings for him

I've only read the novel but they've been following it pretty well, nearly scene for scene. They rearranged it where logical but so far it's been good. If anything they added more scenes to Jiaxu's work that wasn't fleshed out in the novel. The only change so far has been with Jiang Ying's character... I think in the novel she was more aggressive. She never sent him gifts but she was obsessed with making sure he won't have a good life.

Jiaxu's father was drunk driving and hit her father but he ran away so her dad died. Jiangying herself was Jiaxu's classmate and even pushed him down the stairs once. In the novel she was clearly crazy. She followed him around, tried to slap him etc and told everyone that they will get married
