I watched the 2014 one! also I'm not big fan of romance either but Moon Lovers has a love triangle that's easy to decide the who should the female lead end up with so it's not the typical cringey "both are nice to me" , I really recommend it if you like historical action genre with backstabbing and despicable characters, it's not happy and fluffy romance too and it's fast paced too

by flat do you mean slow with no suspense? yes I agree with you it's a relaxing light drama in my opinion, the genre didn't have suspense or thriller or action so I knew what I was in for. the dynamic between the three was amazing though don't you agree? the ending was satisfyingly beautiful too, and it was just 12 episodes not that long
