Given that its a historical drama and politics back then was different its still not his fault, he genuinely believed that she would be a good queen thats why he chose her and her family as marriages back then was based on family and background so I cant say its his fault really, he didnt want her family to be slaughtered nor did he think it will turn out that way!

Not really, he is certainly innocent from it, given that he tried to protect her and her family, but his father was weak, so I really hope she will see the truth soon enough ..
