The explicit ya she time travel is not in the donghua (at least what i have seen) I don't hate the story change. The drama hits the spirit of the original work changing the storyline and pov to give the leads more agency. Instead of a straight story of "the artifact of the week" style of plot they leads actually play a role in the stories. Bi, zhi a bit more silly and less stoic here than he is portrayed donghua. His time travel backstory makes his age and knowledge events in history and while living as modern person make sense.

Essentially the director felt the novel's original resolution or clearing of misunderstanding between them talking was a bit too simplistic and less satisfying for her to have had to endure the trials and tribulations they depicted thus far. So the HK arc was introduced to give more indepth character development and resolution.
Going to miss these characters. Really wish in the future there is another story set in the same universe and we still keep hearing about Sang Yan and Sang Zhi in the background of that.

I felt scene was very natural. What do you say someone who you haven't spoken to for 6 months, after she left you twice. Sang Yan definitely already pieced together enough how much pain Yi Fan was shouldering. That of course he would not recklessly bring that question as to "why she left" up as first thing to say her over the phone.
Even in person in the next episode, he reassured her that if she didn't want to talk about it, to not have to.
Really excited to see the uncle and the aunt go down hopefully next episode. What I like to see is for Yi Fan to use her reporter skills to piece together the truth enough to put them away for good. (Only speculating from what the drama has setup)

Yes, this. I know people will mostly praise 27 in these comments (well deserved) but I very much also enjoyed 26. The advice from the ballet instructor friend, cute scenes with second couple, to Si Qiao reuniting with Yi Fan. It felt very good to see best friends reuniting. Was a good build up for the pay off in episode 27.
The scene of the flashback when she calls her mom scared and begging for help. But the mom totally is dismissive and complicit. AHHH! Totally an unbelievable terrible mother. Absolutely irredeemable. Destroyed me 😭
