In c-dramas, there are two types of open endings; open happy ending and open sad ending. This one is open happy ending type. Because they've clearly showed the modern version of ML and the modern background story of him. We could imagine they would end up together.
You know if it's open sad ending, we won't even get to see Ding Yuxi in modern outfits. Overall it's a good ending for me.

Fu Zhou and Miaomiao's story deserves a full modern drama. It's like childhood connection/ childhood friends to lovers trope. The boy becomes an author because of a girl who saved him and he later dedicated his book about her. I love this type of story 😘
