as far as i know, jiling was ordered by chiwen to become a vessel/ pretend to be him.. because of the pressure he received while being longshen, he separated his own memories when he was the innocent jiling and put them into a wooden doll so that the innocent jiling could freely enjoy the world without burden.. and the wooden doll jiling was the one who accompanied lu wuyi.. after the wooden doll jiling found out the truth, jiling (longshen) took his memories from the wooden doll.. which in the end made him return with intact memories and the wooden doll jiling was finally abandoned/ not used anymore
