Is current Emperor, the son of the old emperor?

Did the Eunuck of the old Emperor die? He would have drafted the edict.

Is he doing this, to get her out of harm's way? He knows he has to confront Red Fox Jing Li and Madam Dowager and the Emperor. It might get bloody, if he is overthrowing the Emperor. He doesn't really know if Emperor is against his birth mother. He doesn't have an army behind him.

Would the outcome have improved eight years ago, if the Ye mother gave the edict to General Mo or the palace? Madam Dowager might have silenced the Ye and Mo clans because she wanted control of the kingdom. If Old Emperor and Crown Prince were already murdered, Jing Li might be Heir Apparent. We need to see her actions in flashback mode, eight years ago.

That edict got passed around like a hot potato. LOL I remember when she burnt an edict, and Marquis was standing nearby.

Initially I thought General Mo and Ye Li's mother had loved each other. The events during the attack on the mother by the brother-in-law, and how the edict ended up in Consort Dowager's hands are a blur to me. Since she and Marquis were close, did he know she had the edict?

Dowager Empress was the only person who could instigate the intricate coup successfully. She does not even look conniving.

Curious that Old Emperor chose Jingli's father as crown prince. Was the mother, a concubine, consort, or the legal wife? If Dowager Empress is the top of the line, her son was bypassed intentionally.

Old Emperor signed the edict to summon General Mo and his army, for a reason. Yet when Mo arrived, he was arrested for treason. At that point, Old Emperor was alive. Was Crown Prince killed at the same time as the Emperor?

I am confused why Mo's General brother entrusted Ye Li's mother with the edict.

That hairpin was big. She can't vomit it, and it can't pass out the other side. It would rupture her guts.

Did Head Eunuch help her? Was Old Emperor still alive, and when did he die?

Also, Mo's friend has gone missing. He wants to see her body for a final time, to believe she is dead.

The mysterious edict deserves a flashback.
