Was never a fan of the original and it's various remake, but this one, just basing from the trailer, seem really…
Umm...Before I begin, the first ep....It was a bit dark. Dark in the way that in this bullying is portrayed in a serious way, not comically as in other adaptations (which I hated ) and in a very good way this serious issue was upheld...
Gorya is portrayed by Tu magnificently... She is not childish and stupid (as in some versions) or very perfect and fearless....She is tough and strong...but not always (That's unrealistic TBH) I love how she breaks down sometimes too...here her character is relatable to reality. She seems more real. I love this the most in this version.
Thyme is portrayed by bright perfectly too. And by perfectly, I do not mean as Jun pyo. Thyme as a bully really even scared me! In all other versions, his bad side, his problems were sugar coated in a comical way by his awkwardness and childishness.. but no, this one did not do that, his manipulative, dark side....was actually upheld.
the second lead Ren, yeah judging from the trailer, is still in love with his first love...but that part was not revealed in the 1st ep yet...
It strikes me similarity with Hana yori dango...more than Bof or meteor garden....But I feel is avsolutely better than all of these.
OVERALL RECOMMENDED FOR YOU TO WATCH... slight problem: 1 ep per week...
I was so frustrated and angry, when Thyme ripped off her new shoes....I almost felt like I was Gorya at that particular time.... But yeah...It was so satisfying that Gorya picked up the ragged shoe and wore it...and then Kicked Thyme with that same dirty ripped shoe.... IT was absolutely so satisfying!
I've seen almost every version of Hana Yori Dango and I've even recorded a podcast episode on the Korean version…
Yes!!! Everything I liked too! You almost spoke my mind...... I would hate to wait up for every sat for this! Can't it come like sooner! or atleast 2 ep per week!!!!! And about the family part...Yes that particular scene made me cry when Gorya starts shouting at her mom that she only cares about those rich boys...and should have a rich kid....I felt that it would be the same as all the versions where the family uses her....But, no my opinion was changed in that shoe scene...That this adaptation portrayed the family support in a perfect way.....
Unpopular opinion: Am I the only one....who hated "Boys over flowers" and 2018 ig..."Meteor garden" Idk....I love the casts...But somehow, It didn't set right with me and I dropped it
I LOVED Tu's interpretation of Gorya: even the brave and plucky one has moments of being down, and it takes others…
Thyme (Bright's) eyes spoke....like so many things! Dammm I just rewatched that particular moment so many times.....when Gorya kicks him, sits on top of him and tells him that she won't back down... and he is somewhat...'intrigued...surprised...attracted...' IT WAS JUST SO PERFECT! I NEVER FOUND THIS IN ANY OTHER VERSION I WATCHED! Bright's eyes speak what he wants to convey and that's what makes him portray so many things together so beautifully!
I love this version more than the korean and the chinese....(Unpopular opinion, which I hated) I have high hopes for this lol!
The best thing I like about this version is that... the bullying is not portrayed in a light and a comical way...It actually deals with how terrifying and bad this can actually get in reality....This version is so dark...and I love how they portrayed Gorya as not a stupid, childish one...or someone too perfect and fearless...She is portrayed beautifully, showing her flaws, her qualities together...It makes everything more real....
Thyme, Damm Bright did such a good job portraying him...I won't lie, Even thyme scared me sometimes as I watched. I love how he is portrayed as someone to be feared in front of others but in reality, he is the one who is broken.
Ren really won my heart....Idk How I would deal with the 2nd lead syndrome, which started from the first ep itself.
Win...I have no words for him... The way his expressions, his voice changed when he described how, People on top, in spotlight....have so much pressure...damm he presented his real feelings in that slight fraction, but very swiftly he again started flirting with those girls indicating he put up his walls again.
I love how MJ is a responsible one...according to me among the 4....I really did not expect much, but Idk when I fell for him somewhere. I saw a comment on yt, describing thyme and his mom's complicated relationship..... I knew I had to post it here: Thyme's mom is so scary. It really shows you how sometimes a bully himself can also be the victim of bullying, which is what makes them so desperate for power and control over their own lives, which they know they don't really have. I love how they highlighted this cycle of abuse. Nothing is so black and white.
Lol....I be writing such long as reviews in 1st ep itself.....It indicates, how much amazing this is and how invested I am!😂😂
Its going to be another bop! To all those people who are in a dilemma whether to watch or not.... Please do watch it. Story line is wonderful, The osts are just beautiful...each one of them. The chemistry between the leads is perfect. It pulls your heartstrings. And those who are thinking that this is another "Doom at your service" or "Goblin" the story line is really different from both of them, though there are certain similarities.... Overall 3 ep have only been released and its already my favourite.
