Actually I rewatched TBOY recently and during the scene where tang lian died they already hinted us that he won't die it took me so much time to understand it. If u can check in that scene TL says " you guys haven't grown up to the point of not needing your eldest martial brother yet" which means that XS and the rest still needs there eldest martial brother and its not time for him to die yet.

I agree YDZ ofc went through so much so its understandable that he turns out that way but I never blame him the imperial family and continuous manipulation was the reason he became that type of demon. I love the fact that XS hate his father so much in the drama.
