Uh huh, I will...I just have so many dramas in my list that I need some organized way of watching them...and that's why I was following douban...i was thinking of watching the highly rated ones first....cus I thought in that I'd find more suitable dramas and won't waste my time....there are some dramas that are highly rated here but I didn't like them that much like ten miles of peach blossoms, you are my hero, you are my glory, the long ballad...i find their douban ratings more accurate....but there also some douban dramas that are highly rated but i didn't like them so much (found boring at some point) like ashes of love, put your head on my shoulder, love 020, boss and me....it's not like I didn't like them completely but all the dramas I have mentioned made me feel bored so I fast forwarded and skipped through them.....
In short, altho I prefer chinese dramas over kdramas, it;s usually hard for me to find a cdrama that I enjoy very much... the ones I have enjoyed till now are- nirvana in fire, story of yanxi palace, one and only, crush, dating in the kitchen, lovely us, reset, mysterious love, the wolf...these were enjoyable to me
The untamed and word of honor are the dramas that I've loved like no other....like way too much...so much that I've already rewatched them two three times....I'm waiting for another drama that I'd love as much as them... Recently I've enjoyed love between fairy and devil, it's the first xianxia I've enjoyed ever. Story of minglan, LLTG and Joy of Life are in list and I'd watch them but more and more new and interesting dramas keep coming

I've not watched love like galaxy until now...just because I'm not yet ready to watch innocent and little Fei lu as a hot man...but I'm surely gonna watch it after sometime

Hmm, it might be different for others idk....I watched this with high expectations and got exactly what I was expecting- a good quality politics....in all the dramas I've watched, I always skip the politics part but the politics got me intrigued...the MLs goals was to clear his chiyan armies name so everyone that was related to the case was shown..but not in too detail...i think other characters POV might have let the main chiyan case astray and had the chances of distracting the viewers from the main case....there were too many dots to connect and if the directors showed more of other characters, not every viewer would've kept up with the main plot especially when you've to wait for two or three days to watch the next episode...plus I think that would've made the drama even lengthier...like 80 episodes or something....so I think the pacing and character setting was apt...altho, I do feel they could've shown a bit about MLs relationship with commander Meng and Fei lu
As for the title, I feel like Nirvana in Fire is indeed indicating to Lin Shu....how his life as Lin Shu was destroyed in that battle, burnt in the fire but that Fire lead him to his new life as Mei changsu...from a general who was unaware of the betrayals of his trusted ones...he became a man who can see through the greed and cruel intentions of the people, thus the title Nirvana in Fire.
And I did feel that the crown prince and prince yu were not so intelligent, but it's understandable since I've seen many successors of some great figures in history who weren't as intelligent and achieving as their legendary predecessors (ofc there opposites as well)...but I feel like Xie yu, Xia Jiang and the emperor were quite calculating and the only reason why Mei changu outsmated them was because he had been studying and preparing for it thoroughly in those 13 years and also cus of the support and love his supporters have for him...Marquis Yan, Yujin, Commander Meng, Jingrui, and his other subordinates were the main helpers who contributed to the success of his plan

Oh yes I finished NIF and I feel like it deserves the reputation it has. I prefer every genre and every type of drama as long as it has a good story and NIF really hooked me till the end. Ngl, it was the only drama, out of all the cdramas i've watched that i liked from starting to end...otherwise all the other dramas I've watched start with a good pacing but rush at the ending
πππ how ridiculous, just because she is much older than the original character but itβs called acting…
I haven't seen it yet...I just finished NIF and was looking for another drama to watch...and I was actually planning to watch dramas acc to douban ratings cus I found it more acc to my taste than MDL ratings....but I know there are underappreciated dramas in douban and MDL as well. So I came here to look for reviews...and after reading your views, I think maybe I can give this a try

aha I see...so with some improvements, it could've been a great drama...what attracted me to this in the first place was the fact that it was made with a high budget and the sets and costumes are very beautiful?
I'm someone who usually drops dramas very quickly or completes it by skipping more than half of it...I also find most of the dramas and movies overrated, especially classics...When I started this drama, my attitude was very judgemental, I wanted to see if the mighty ratings it got here and in douban are well deserved or not, and now that I've finished this...I'm so satisfied and happy, this truly deserves the unprecedented reputation it has. Definitely a classic and a masterpiece.
Everytime I watch a romance drama, I skip all the romantic and political parts but when I watched this drama, I was delighted that they didn't give romance much importance in its plot. It irritates me that some people are dropping this just because they find the romance lacking....I think it's pretty clear that it's a political and action drama, so why are they expecting romance in the first place? And also the ones who drop the drama in the first half will never get to see the true glory of this drama because this is a type of drama that gets better and better with every episode.
Does anyone have a good theory or explanation as to why this show is named "Nirvana In Fire"?
It's just my theory but the Chiyan army was burnt in fire and just because Lin Shu was burnt in fire and happened to be in a snowy region, he got poisoned by those bugs and got a new life...nirvana can be taken as rebirth here?
