Yeah, it could be the super cliché, that Zhou Shu Yi saw them, misunderstood the whole thing and nothing serious going on. But I'm sure something happened with somebody otherwise they wouldn't show us the hospital bill. I'm overthinking every moment of the special ep and the trailer. :D

After watching the special episode my theory is: Gao Shi De's mother was pregnant when they went to America, but she died during childbirth. I think the husband left them immediately when Gao Shi De's mother died, that's why he needs to pay the hospital bill. Otherwise, his "new father" would do that. The baby (Oscar) is Gao Shi De little brother and the girl is just a nanny, who looks after Oscar and helps Gao Shi De because he doesn't have any experience with kids. And Gao Shi De isn't just a big brother here, but also has to become a "dad" too (<- I hope it makes sense...). It took two years to pay the bill, and then he could go back. Of course, it still doesn't explain why Gao Shi De didn't tell this to Zhou Shu Yi. In the trailer, there's a sentence something like "You thought you can solve all your problem by yourself." I assume that Gao Shi De didn't want to be a burden for Zhou Shu Yi, and that's why he didn't tell him. Actually, I'm excited about the second season.
