To be honest, I also suspect it may very much be the case that these are young people. I used to write fanfiction a lot and most of those, who were writing romance-focused stories tended to be very young people, and it's not that hard to spot a difference between someone who is young and someone who is in their 30-40s when it comes to writing.

And yes, romance can ruin things at times if it's not interesting. My personal biggest dislike is a forced love triangle but sometimes, it just doesn't work because it's told in a bad way, or the actors just don't have chemistry and things feel forced, etc. And in situations like this, it really would have worked better without it.

Oh trust me, I'm with you on that. There's nothing that amuses me more than seeing comments under some dramas where people whine that there are no kisses or something, as if that determined the quality of the drama in any kind of way. I don't mind romance, but I prefer for it to be part of a bigger story rather than the sole focus and even then, if it's well-written and well-acted, the characters don't even have to so much as hug for me to be sold on it, while sometimes we see all the kisses and what not, which feel forced and don't sell me on it at all.

It's a shame really that this seems to be the sole focus and sole factor for a big part of the audience. Unless they completely ruin the ending, which I hope not, this drama is aiming towards being the first one that might receive a 10 from me. I can't find anything to complain about - the story is great, the characters are interesting, everything is connected in a fun way, it keeps you on your toes all the time, etc etc. And even then, you can see people asking if it has romance... Everyone has their preferences, and it's their right obviously, but come on...

For me, it depends. Most of the time, I don't make a fuss if I come across spoilers but I don't really go out of my way to find them. If I'm really, really curious about something I might but those are very rare situations.

I have no idea how it's doing in China but I do hope it's doing well, too. I may only have come here because Luo Yunxi is in it but I'm really loving everything about it. I used to love crime series and it's been such a long time since I enjoyed one as much as I am enjoying this one. And yeah, even if you think you know things, you are still taken by surprise by the developments at times. But it has no romance, no kisses, etc. which is probably why the traffic here is so slow. It's a shame, really.

I haven't seen any other trailers beyond what they show after episodes, I usually try to avoid seeing too much spoilers. And I haven't seen the latest episode, they come out at a very early morning time here and while I'm definitely loving this drama, I'm not quite willing to go so far as to wake up at 5 just to watch an episode before work lol So unfortunately, work first, drama later :)

And yes, it would be very sad for the ML if almost everyone around him turned out to be a bad guy in one way or another but it wouldn't be the first time drama goes for a motive like that (Feng Suige comes to mind lol). I guess we will see soon, there's only a few episodes left so yeah, it is natural that things do have to start coming together and all :)

100% agreed it has to be someone we've met, which is why my mind jumped to the teacher if it's not Chen Chuchuan.

I mean, I imagine it may not be so much to scare other cops as kind of stall them, I suppose. Like, if they kill a cop that got too close to discovering something, whatever he discovered dies with him at least for a while, so it buys them more time before someone else catches on to the same things. That's what I always assumed the motive had to be because, like you say, it's not like they're going to just scare other cops away and have them go 'Yeah, you know what, let's drop it'.

Yeah... So far, there's nothing that we've been shown and no character that has been introduced to that didn't have any role to play, so I think the teacher is still going to come back somehow. Although I may also be 100% overthinking it since it's so easy lol

The trailer makes me think Wan is likely dead but who knows, wouldn't be the first time the trailer ends up being a bit deceiving :)

Yeah. It would be a fun twist, and not something that a lot of titles go for, but I also think it's unlikely. Not even because it's a c-drama but so far, the way the plot is unraveling isn't really going in the direction that could support that. But the fact that so many people connected to Qi Sizhe are involved in something makes one wonder - what if he is too :)

Well, I'm pretty sure Qi Sizhe is not going to be friends with Chen Chuchuan anymore. I've said it long ago that the guy is suspicious but I didn't expect that he'd actually turn out to be a killer in one of the cases, rather than just someone connected to (or even the mastermind) behind the drug case.

Now, a part of me is wondering if perhaps, he's not actually a middle man, especially with the phone call he made in the episode. Now, I'm starting to suspect that it may be connected to the teacher that we had seen him and Qi Sizhe visit at one point.

We've never seen the teacher's wife, did we? I think he mentioned that she was away or something, I can't recall right now but the way Chen Chuchuan was speaking to Qi Sizhe made it seem like there was a deeper, personal purpose behind it. Chen Chuchuan doesn't seem to have anyone close like that but if they are all close to the teacher, he could potentially be willing to help. That would also offer more reason for why we had seen the teacher and found out that the three were close with the guy.

Just a theory and speculations, obviously. It would be super fun if it was to turn out that Qi Sizhe was somehow connected to it all, too (since so many people around him seem to be) but that feels rather unlikely. If anything, it feels like he is a perfect person to stay close to in order to keep an eye on the investigation and where it is.

Also, that trailer... I think we may be getting a bit more background for Zhu Qingyue, which I think is going to be fun but... Poor Detective Wan. I mean, I pretty much expected someone to jump out and attack him while he was arresting the guy at the hospital but I didn't expect them to go quite so far. Definitely waiting for tomorrow's episode!

I actually thought that, too at one point! It would be the ultimate twist - Qi Sizhe is actually the one behind the original diamond case but the car accident made him lose his memory about that. I'm pretty sure it's very unlikely but fun to speculate on :)

I'm only 7 episodes in but so far, I'm enjoying this more than I expected I would. At first, I half-expected that we would end up seeing the other sisters choose their partners from among the group of men as well, but with only a few of them left - and some very unlikeable ones - I guess it will not be the case at all. Although, I do have a feeling there is going to be something between the blind one and the scholar, I can't imagine they are giving them scenes the way they do for nothing.

I don't trust the guy that arrived late, though. There's something about him that doesn't quite sit right with me. Perhaps I'm just overthinking it but I have a feeling there's way more to him and his intentions than he shows us.

And geeeez, the fourth sister is so annoying... I'm glad she's the only one or I would be suffering while watching lol

I have such incredibly mixed feelings about this drama. I had incredibly high hopes for it and I can't help feeling disappointed.

It's not even about Xiao Yao and Hong Ye's ending. I don't mind it being this way, if anything, I can actually get behind Hong Ye's decision. I really liked them showing that the characters we know became teachers in the demon academy and all. I was sad to see they killed of Xiao Mu, but at least Xiao Ming was still left.

It's more about my feelings about the whole human vs demon conflict. I can't help feeling like the humans were presented in a bit too unlikeable way for me to really enjoy the conflict. What I usually enjoy most about tropes like this is that the truth, the right thing, ends up being in the middle but here, even if it does, the characters were too unlikeable.

Bing Zhu was probably my biggest disappointment. I had very high hopes for his character to be interesting, and he actually became unlikeable. And that ending for him... "I'll atone in my own way" - and what is that way? For all we know, he may as well be enjoying a nice life on a warm beach, umbrella drinks every day and no worries for the rest of his life. I'm exaggerating obviously, but if he's actually atoning for what he did, I'd like to see how. And don't even get me started on everyone just accepting him walking away like that with Pian Pian/Tan'er (which, honestly, I'm not sure I even want to think about as far as how weird it is for his sister to be in the body of someone he cares about).

One thing I don't understand is - what was the point of Xiao Yao going back in time again? Letting us see Hou Minghao one last time? I kinda liked the 'epilogue' that they presented us with and this bit actually ruined it for me a little.

The soundtrack was great, the visuals were incredible and while at first I found CGI a bit funny at times, it ended up growing on me. The actors did a great job too, but the story... I can't help feeling like it was a bit of a mess. Perhaps I just had too high expectations after seeing how beautiful the drama looks. I don't regret watching it but it's probably one of those titles that I will not really be coming back to.

Hmm, I'm not sure what to think. When they discovered that Chen Chuchuan is nowhere to be found, I was pretty sure he vanished to make it appear as if he's another victim, so that they'd treat it as a missing person case and expect to find his body at one point, but him coming to Qi Sizhe just like that at the end of the episode kind of contradicts that theory... And that trailer...

I'm almost sad that the drama only has a few episodes left, while at the same time, I can't wait to find out how it all connects and ends.

I have watched 3 episodes so far but it is a very interesting start. The idea of a group of people competing for someone's attention to get chosen to marry that person is nothing new, but I like the little twist that it's men competing for a woman.

I wonder if the sisters get more likeable in the future or they're actually going to get worse. I'm curious about, I think the 2nd sister (the one played by Cheng Xiao) - even if she competes with the FL, she seems to be doing it with dignity so far instead of acting like a brat, and I hope it stays this way.

Not sure what to think about Hou Minghao's character, yet but I sure am curious about where we are going with him being the servant in the Rong household.

Hmmm... The guy sure is suspicious and all, but I can't help feeling like it's a bit too easy for the case to be solved so quickly. Unless it is supposed to be a transition towards THE case which, based on the trailer for the next episode, it can sure be.

Although, would they reveal it quite so early, with so many episodes still left? Now, it makes me think that perhaps, he may not be the mastermind after all but also someone connected. But, I guess we will see.

Oh how I wish they would give us more than 1 episode... It's going to be the longest few days...

Ooooh, as a person who tends to LOVE villains, I'd 10000000% watch that. I hope it happens one day.

We're getting more and more clues about the whole drug case with each passing episode. And I still feel suspicious towards Qi Sizhe's friend. If the bottle was supposed to contain antidepressants, what kind of doctor would assign that kind of medicine/refer to therapy/etc?

I had a feeling lao Song would play some kind of a role, though it wasn't quite what I expected it to be. But it's nice to see that they're not bringing something up if it's completely meaningless.

I just wish we were getting more than 1 episode a day... This pace is actually killing me...

Agreed. I really like how both of these characters are shown - staying professional when it's required even if they have a conflict, and - even if it may take time rather than happen right away - willing to consider the other's point of view and that they may actually be the one, who is wrong.

But I guess it's only natural, given we're already halfway through the drama - they have to come to an understanding at some point, so it is what we are seeing.

While all the previous cases were rather meticulous, I can't help feeling like this 4th one, the people just feel a bit sloppy. Pushing aside the fact that I'm not quite buying that the insurance seller just happened to see her and try to help, first save her life and then make sure that her family gets the money from the policy, out of the goodness of his heart... He had the time to try and wipe the balcony, run around the stairs back and forth, but didn't think to wipe his fingertips from the shoes before hiding them? There would be no case against him if he did that.

I have to say, I like how they're slowly moving towards revealing the big underlying plot, and that it's not Qi Sizhe obsessively pushing towards that. Yes, he has his moments, but it's Gao Yuan that noticed the shape on the medicine bottle and I imagine is probably going to bring it up to everyone's attention.

I really am enjoying this drama way more than I expected and I hope the rest of it continues to deliver :)

I also really like the fact that even when the leads are butting heads, they are able to remain fully professional when working on a case. Conflicts between characters in shows like this are nothing new but usually, they bicker and disagree all the time. Here, they can have an argument worthy of two 5-year-olds, but when they're working on a case, it remains on the side and they act professionally and focus on what needs to be done to solve it. It may be a small thing but I really respect the drama for presenting it this way.

Wow, episode 10 was definitely something. I'm wondering if the case is actually over, though. My Mandarin isn't anywhere near good enough to feel confident I saw it correctly but when Qi Sizhe was testing fingerprints at the end, wasn't the result negative for all 3 that he tested?

Plus, so far we've had all cases carry over to a few minutes of an episode only to close that out and move on to the next practically right after. That doesn't necessarily have to mean anything, but it has been the pattern so far.

Right now, my theory is that it was actually the daughter who is actually guilty and the mother is covering for her. With the focus we had on that jacket, I imagine she probably was the one to go to the victim's mother and cause her death, and the victim later confronted the doc.

Also, we didn't get an answer about the watch that Qi Sizhe claims belongs to his friend. I can't imagine they brought the whole thing up only to drop it so completely so I expect more to come still here.
