Runyu is so reserved. And I had been struggling to read him at first. He seemed decent, kind, quiet…but hurt. He contained a lot of his emotion for so long, wanting to lay low, invisible, so nobody accused him of eyeing the throne. Even his relationship with XF, though it looked close and warm but he still showed how ‘careful’ and ‘reserved’ he is to a point that you couldn’t tell if he really loved his brother or he was just being ‘polite’. And the whole journey with Jinmi, it was like seeing a battle inside his mind. And then when he became more anxious, raging after his mom died, it was also difficult to read. You never know for sure if he is really evil because you could still feel his ‘kindness’. So, really such a complicated character. He is so cold but warm at the same time, he is so distant but feel so closed at the same time. So, yeah, I still feel he is more complicated than TTJ, and he was portrayed so well by LYX that this character really leave that mark in my mind. TTJ doesn’t, honestly. His background, his intention, his struggle, everything is clearer in TTJ compared to Runyu.
