Well...I guess this is always the case for live adaptation of a novel...due to limited screen time and censorship, it just cannot portray a certain character development properly. And I would say, QinYan definitely doesn't have enough character development for viewers to understand his background, his action, his thinking process etc...that's why it feels 'forced' to me...I guess the only way to find out is to read the novel. Anyway, there will never be perfect LA...I feel there are many other 'forced' aspects, but I am totally fine...because I get used to chinese dramas that I know their limitation...
