It is later hinted that Fan Changyu’s parents were not just ordinary butchers as everyone believed. However, there are subtle hints that her father had a hidden past and might have known certain secrets connected to powerful people. Because of this, her parents eventually became targets. This tragedy forced Fan Changyu to grow up alone and live a rough life while protecting what remained of her family.
