Her one intention to come back and have her rengenge as her enemies then was in small position but now they are one who are the top. So, she has to play accordingly and weaken them slowly taking their kids away …. Remember Duke son was nearly killed by An le’s plan where she played so cleverly that it was her game where Han Ye was the one who gave the verdict. She is not playful she is calculated. Though I wish emphasise should have been put in those scenes. The flood case was also manipulated by Anle she knew Prince would ask her eventually after LMX denial. How cleverly she tagged along Wen shu as she knew his talent, Far sighted she is and how she destroyed Duke’s Brother in law with her clever scheme.
And there is lot to come. We have seen An le’s scheme and back end acting but now the time to rise in front is coming.

@PeachBlossomGoddess Okay some pointers. An Le was not reared by Revenge-oriented elders who infused only pain, hate and grudge in her. She grew with her own conviction, Her own strength and seeing so many wars and life before coming to the Capital, She has her own share of life, death and its meaning. So, That is the reason why she understands true intention and appreciates it, Though she still has her eye on the target the whole time as she knows she and her clan was wronged.
An Le if confronted by Ruthless Prince would have been another story but Han Ye himself is not his father's shadow, His love for his people is true and his intention to do good is commendable. That makes An Le appreciate and Anning's guilt and love for Di Ziyuan is also not to be ignored.
An Le's patience is the key to her revenge. She knows she cannot go and destroy the capital as she is not a bloodthirsty warrior. She knows how a family can be hurt by killing. Her whole clan was selfless, They could have taken power and ruled everyone but they gave up their right to Peace, That is the sort of clan she comes from. She wants those who have killed her clan to take responsibility.
Her intention was never to kill anyone. If it was she would never have come like this.
In many scenes we see LMX getting scared by how Anle is affected by the goodness of Prince and Princess's love towards her. But in spite of it all, she is here for revenge, not Gore kind. It was never her intention to murder people. She is here to clear her Clan's name and bring glory to those who were wrongly massacred.

No Its not stupid I think as everything which has happened was such a huge tragedy and How can anyone fathom that a child who lost everything can be switched and this big plan of revenge would be ever planned by a child, Who has no support as everyone she knew and who was loyal to her Di clan was wiped out. So, No one can even imagine or doubt that the girl who has been living in Dai Mountain would be swapped.
The inner feeling that kind of attracted Han Ye to An le was the same connection but due to his loyalty towards the girl whose whole family got massacred by his clan make him more sensitive and protected towards Di Ziyuan. But both are same we know that as a audience but Han Ye knowingly he is liking An Le still keeps his part of loyalty.
Even in such beautiful An le with her flirtatious ways could not make Han Ye give up his loyalty and feeling for Di Ziyuan. ... that makes his character even endearing.
Even if he wants to step up and be The man as you stated .... He will be that Gentleman and never reveal his likings for the sake of his loyalty and promise. ... and further ahead he will be man enough to protect his love even if it means hurting himself.

I agree but Han ye devotion is also commendable even when he falling for An Le …. His determination is strong on marrying Di ziyuan. So in many ways Han ye is perfect for An Le but I feel for Ming xi 🥺

I agree….. we need to have a back story …. It’s essential to truly understand how his involvement grew this deep. I read that he was engaged to Di ziyuan but later because of all the turmoil DZ was engaged to the Crown prince. So, Maybe he is expecting at last she will be his…. Awwww sad….
