Yes, exactly! Many times over I never wanted a drama to end, or at least for there to be a second season. But really korea, japan, and taiwan continuously let out dramas to keep your interest--and to have the same basic play-out but performed or made into a different environment is another factor that keeps us coming back. As you put it, they have the winning formula. :D
I see you dropped Flower Boy Ramyun Shop. How come? I actually have it on hold at the 10th, but I'm curious why you dropped it? I thought the story is a bit different than the usual, you know?

When watching Paradise Kiss I really thought I'd develop a strong bias since such a story and art style is hard to portray in live action especially if there is a strong fan base for the original, which there is. But just as you said, I think Mukai did a phenomenal job and I really enjoyed the movie.
And thank you for the recommendation! Hana yori dango but in ancient china? Sounds interesting!

Very true. I just wish there were more people locally that enjoy watching and conversing about Asian dramas as much as I do. My best friend really happens to be the only person in which we have elongated discussions about this or that drama. But even then, her drama history is but a fraction of my own and I feel I go on and on far more than she does. xDD; Which she doesn't mind because she knows I have a passion for it.
Geun Seok I believe is a favorite among many. But for that drama they really selected a strong cast. Did you know he made a guest appearance in the Japanese version, Ikemen desu ne? I was caught off guard with that one because I'm strongly against watching previews or sneak-peaks. xD And as far as hair preference goes, I don't have one. xDD I thought the blonde was absolutely adorable on Lee Hong Ki, but he looks fine with brunette, too.

Hana Yori Dango was an excellent drama to begin your career with! It was well executed, which is why it's on my top. :D But yes, I was recommended by Akai-kitsune to watch Goong. I remember all the hype back in 2006, but at the time I didn't dabble to much on the internet nor spent a lot of time watching dramas, so I didn't watch it then. I'm now on the fifth episode and enjoy immensely! :D And thanks! I'll put Goong S on the list. ^-^
You know, I'm not quite sure how I found Ikemen desu ne. I actually think it had something to do with this site, but the details are already fuzzy. xD But it definitely similar to You're Beautiful, practically follows the original, but there are some slight differences and the cast has great chemistry. An old room-mate and myself watched You're Beautiful when we were freshmen and it holds great value to us for reminiscing purposes. (at text limit xD)
There are things that I would have loved to have seen from the k-version that was not shown on the J-version like…
I was actually GLAD they took that out. For two reasons: 1. it, as you said, made me cry! I was preparing for it, but was to glad when discovering they deducted it. And 2. Hong Ki's performance was so astounding that someone trying to reproduce it would no doubt seem second best. Hong ki really made that role. ^-^

Thank you for the insight. I'm not adverse to watching dramas that focus around music, like you're beautiful...just afraid to tread in the lines of--"then they bursted out into song!" xD you know?

Hey! Not a problem!
Taiwanese Fran Dresher? xDD I suppose some saw her that way, but really enjoyed her role. She reminded my slightly of my flamboyant years as well as some of my friends into alternative style. Xiao was just adorable and you get insight on how different minded people approach situations. It's definitely a drama I recommend time and again. ^-^

Not a problem! I'm well and somewhat chatty this morning. xD How are you? And as far as Asian movie recommendations go, I'd recommend Dororo. It's great!

Ah! thank you! Since I didn't give it a chance, it hard to believe the series develops that way since much of the previews and sneak-peaks had mostly focused on the musical aspect of it and continually calling it a 'musical'. I'll definitely give it a proper chance. And thank you for the recommendations!

No problem! I like making new friends! :D
I see you're watching What's Up, how is it? I not one for musical dramas, but I'm a big fan of Daesung.

Yo, no problem. :D It's Rainie Yang as Xiao from the Taiwanese drama Miss No Good. One of my favorites! It has great rewatch value. ^-^
Truly a great drama.
Imagine if we were in an alternate universe where the Korean version did not exist--blasphemy, I know, but before you light your torches and gather your pitchforks, really imagine if you had no bases to compare the Japanese version to. In essence, if you were to put your biases and preconceptions aside, this version truly stands tall and stable. There are of course differences between the two, but it's worth the watch to find those differences out! And as I've said previously, this cast is great! As creepy as it might sound, I plan to tail their careers from here on. I'm so looking forward to see what they'll do.

Love the avatar! One of my favorite Japanese male actors! Thanks for the friend request! It doesn't appear we're currently watching anything similar to chat about, but we have a lot of the same dramas under the completed list! :D
The Taiwanese version is the best of the three adaptions. Kotoko in this version gave me a headache and really I felt the 'love' development was lacking. Love it for its 90's appeal. |D
