Stuff the drama doesn't tell you but cnetizens might pick up (not really spoilers, just interesting trivia of sort?) re; Lao Ai (ep 20+) & Lord Long Yang (Wei, super minor character, he's usually talking to the Wei King, ep 30+?)
(there is a spoiler for ep 41) Do you know where can I read more about Ying Xi (Lord Weiyang of Qin). I tried…
He's a real person but didn't do anything of note to leave much behind, so the character is basically fictional. I was interested in him too, but couldn't find anything. (instead I found bunch of minor characters that's just casually dropped in all have wiki pages lol)
There's no reason Lao Ai would get this much time, *complains loudly over and over again* He's not Lv Buwei, I'd…
Yeah that one. if Disguiser isn't grabbing you, that's fine IMO, I liked it for everyone else + production team. MCS is def iconic role for Hu Ge, i did watch him in two Chinese Paladin, which is also fairly iconic for him.
Yes, that's a great idea. I love it here, let's not move!
they are definitely dragging out Lv Buwei parts, he should only be there for half the drama, especially since conquering the other kingdoms + reforms come after his exit. I feel Li Si shouldn't be that unlikeable though, he has his ideals and grand schemes, but it's just woof.

ooh that make sense. tbf mainland youngsters like western shows or even japanese/korean/old hk shows more than mainland stuff, but occasionally you get some wildly popular show that everyone watches. The dub thing i totally expect, guangdong's tv station all have dubbed dramas, it makes my brain super confused.
lol disguiser's focus is on Jin Dong anyways, all the other supporting characters excelled, Hu Ge didn't do too well, but his love interest was even worse, so much worse that he seem ok in comparison. Wild Good Lake got fair amount of praise and decent box office for a not-popcorn movie though! I passed on it because the synopsis didn't spark any interest in me. He's in that Wong Kar Wai film, well he's doing the drama version at the moment I think? (I follow the director somewhat lol, since his wife manages Ni Ni)

Oh yeah the historical figure and the character on paper is def fairly interesting. But either the way the show/character is written or the performance, Li Si comes off average to me, maybe I just expected more. I was pleasantly surprised by Lv Buwei since he's not as villain-ish as previously depicted, in fact, sometimes it feels like the narrative is purposely showing more of his achievements and glossing over his faults, but his performance is oddly comically villainous at times, which is slightly jarring. My favourite and probably only attachment is def Lv Buwei though.
Ying Zheng should honestly be shining more, but he isn't so i think that's a fail for me. Not just his performance issue, the writing is all over the pace at times. Drama you just need to show all the stuff he did on record, don't need to add your own schemes, pls.

Oh yeah compared to nyc, hk would be smaller. I guess everyone's circle is lot bigger in HK? oh, I'm aware of the sentiment, but mhmm i thought it'd be apply to live action, or very pro-China movies, not Nezha.
I could probably take him as 20 year old Ying Zheng, you are rarely going to get 20 something to play an emperor. I'm more questioning how he'd act, he totally bombed Disguiser where he was 30ish playing a 20 year old, and he was way way way over the top immature that it was jarring.
I submitted a change to just get rid of the Part 2 page. None of the platforms are breaking it into 2, they just…
thanks for saving me the dilemma where to complain OMG LAO AI please die already. there's no reason your arc would take like 15ep, even if it's to set up other things. the drama split is completely arbitrary, since it's in the middle of an arc.
There's no reason Lao Ai would get this much time, *complains loudly over and over again* He's not Lv Buwei, I'd…
i wouldn't call 7mil people city small ;P omg i want to hear wild stories too!! def can't believe they didn't air Nezha, that's a good family movie right there! But i guess no one could have predicted it'd explode.

Hu Ge? oh my you have some connections! crash it crash it hahahaha. If they import the Soul in mainland, you could probably see it online a month/a month and half after it's in theatre :P

I think only Chen Xiao would work for me as a *teenager* so when he was younger, (he's actually in the previous installment as a minor supporting character lol). None of the older actors would work for me either, HXM played Han Wu Di like 20 years ago and he did a pretty good job of it, but I don't think he'd work now. I actually considered Hu Ge, because at times Zhang Luyi look a LOT like Hu Ge (not in this drama), but Hu Ge tend to look younger (and better...)

hahaha i complained about ying zheng looking too old and my mum was all "maybe people in ancient china is just old looking, they die earlier too" ok, you are right, but i still can't accept moustache 19 year old ying zheng! my grandma said the old ying zheng was better, but i have no idea what drama she was talking about, and she couldn't tell me either LOL.

i'm always bad at casting actors, it's always going nope at actors, rather than coming up with people who *could* play certain actor. All the actors I can think of are too old, since you need certain charisma and aura to play as an emperor, especially one with that many achievements. I think casting teenage Ying Zheng would be lot easier, since I just need their age to be in the range + can act. e.g. Bad Kids' two boys could work,
I am not in love with how much time we are spending on the Chengmin and Lao Ai arcs. They are important but geez…
There's no reason Lao Ai would get this much time, *complains loudly over and over again* He's not Lv Buwei, I'd complain about Lv Buwei too, let along him.
unrelated, i think cctv is trolling me. cctv 3 have a variety show called national treasure, and they have small bit of reenactment of some fictional story they made up for certain artefacts, to lead up to introducing certain national treasure. yesterday's ep is on terracotta armies' museum, they had Fu Dalong (Qin Empire 2's Ying Si's actor) and he played Ying Zheng!!! i'm so mad!!! I want him as Ying Zheng here!!
They should have just cast a teenager or a man in his early 20. It would be easier to age him later. At first…
All the dramas you listed are webdramas, winter begonia was cut for tv broadcast (i still haven't watched it so i'm not sure why). the 40 ep rule isn't actually that strict, it's a suggested thing, serenade of peaceful joy is 69 ep and aired on primetime hunan tv. It could be more strictly enforced because this is cctv? The primetime restriction per year on historical dramas (i forgot how much, less than 100 ep probably, 80?) also only applies to other tv stations, cctv doesn't follow it, but it rarely air historical dramas anyways.
This drama also goes through more stringent review i think, due to it being reviewed under "important historical drama", there's grand total of TWO dramas in the last 5 years that was filmed under the category i think (The other is Young Marshal). All the other dramas, including the vaguely historical fact-y ones like serenade are under "historical legend" or something, so it leans towards fictional side and it's easier to pass. Apparently, the script has to be reviewed before even filming for this drama, I'm guessing they sent the old script, but this new script have so much questionable dialogues lol.
Oh I had a look, the drama could be lining up with the novel events? even though the first part would be like 45 ep or something, idk. anyways, the rules are always hilariously vague and change all the time, and sometimes they will go back on their rules.

You are correct, the drama finished filming early last year, and will be airing back to back. It's functionally the same drama, the tv broadcast doesn't even have the part 1 labeled. This is the last of the franchise they'll do, as the IP (a series of novels that love Qin to hell and back, only the first drama follow it closely, the rest is more history + original script) expired last year? It's supposed to be based on the fourth and fifth book of the series thus the length, but that's kinda moot now. There's a sixth one about downfall of Qin, but I don't think that was ever in the plans for adaptation,

Rumour has it we won't get to 235 BC till almost ep 60 :) (cctv previews for ep 57?) 37 ~ 40 should be 239 BC. I want to have a talk with whoever that paced the drama. I really don't think we need that many ep on the current arc. I'm glad we are seeing some groundwork for unifying writings and measurement system offhandedly mention (that one single line, i thought they'd skip over it), but ugh this pacing. I thought they simplified things because they completely kicked Dowager Xia out of the power struggle super early in the drama, but no, they just added it to somewhere else ahhhhhhh.
