I just started ep30, there’s many great characters in this show, but for me, one of my favourites is Chris. Always look forward to seeing her and the actress kills it, her eyes r just so expressive.

I remembered doing that calculation when I started the donghua after drama finished. It went to plan initially, then I couldn’t resist and binged it in couple of weeks 🤣

I feel like Bai, with the 5th sister he can’t tell what’s up or down anymore 😭

I think this is set against a backdrop where long form dramas like these are losing popularity and budget against cheaper, more salacious short vertical dramas. So there’s attempt to introduce many actors/actresses as well as elements from short dramas.

It’s unfortunate reality for ppl in the ent industry and a common element in many dramas, the ongoing k drama Idol I also touched on it

fair enough. I’m just going based on my previous exp of Gu Man shows. It wouldn’t overshadow but would complement each other organically.

So far the business side has been done quite well because it ties back to their parents backstory. I actually enjoy watching their mothers a lot too.

It’s common for dramas to use tropes like misunderstanding, forced separation and noble idiocy to maintain dramatic tension. Thankfully Gu Man’s shows tend to buck this trend.

Rich heiress slumming it with the working class kinda reminds me of Dilraba in YAMG pretending she’s not a star 😅

My guess is commercial reason. Idols r typically marketed as vehicle of impressionable fans’ adoration to maximise the revenue and justify the investment in them. Anytime they start having relationship, fans might turn against them so agencies will want to reduce risk and maximise revenue.

I mean surely there r more direct way to discredit the FL This show has been careful in maintaining tension in term of ensuring everyone is shades of grey and potentially be villainous or redeemable. But surely planning to kill a family member is painting your option into a corner.

Yeah, it doesn’t make sense, especially if it involve killing one of the sister.

It’s better to suffer together here where there are many in the same boat discussing latest development

The plot is plotting but the eps is not dropping 😢
