I think Prince Bai was a lot better than his father in character they, only looked alike. He didn't usurp the throne when Xiao Se went for war and throne remained empty for months even though the head eunuch offered him to. Also he helped Xiao Se in fighting Lou Qingyang by sending sword deities that were supporting him even though death of Xiao Se would have removed the biggest hurdle in way of his throne. As he said himself that his character is not as white as Xiao Se who is without any ambitions,but he is not completely black either. He had his ambitions but he didn't forsake his humanity for it.
