I've watched 4 episodes and I'm so bored. (BTW this is my opinion) the ML and FL chemistry seems so dry. Watching them together is like watching paint dry. Does this show get any better?
As human being everyone has an obligation to not be racist or insult another culture irregardless of who the target audience for the show was. Imagine the type of image this produces to the average Korean that as u mentioned this sort of content is typically marketed towards. Not only does it make them think that all black people are the same (Nigerians and Jamaicans). But it make black people seem like clowns and tools for comedic purposes. How is this better than the black face.
Un-popular opinion but I personally think the ending ruined the entire show for me. Whatever good drama the first half of the show built up the second half destroyed and there were so many plot holes and waste of space characters. 1. The elders of qiongcang like common talk about the biggest wastemen in all 5 kingdoms. They talk bug about qiongcang and made it seem like it was a formidable force but really it was just a bunch of old men waiting for their dirt nap. The biggest wasteman in all of qiongcang has got to be the supreme master. For someone who goes by the name supreme master and is the supposed top saint in the universe, he was a let down. So much so that Fei yan who probably isn't even in the top saint ranking was able to knock him down with one blow. Also how about the plot hole of only Wu Ji being able to kill Fu Yao now all of a sudden these old men are trying to "take care of her by themselves". I mean if you guys could just seal her then why didn't you do it in the first place like qeeze. And I swear down they made things worse by trying to seal the power of the rock before. What really annoyed me is the fact that after they failed to seal the rock one of them said something about them sing half of their powers so they are now invalid. Well, bro if ur invalid then u can't chain a grown man with more power than you (possibly) and put frickin pins in him like dahh... 2. Who the hell is Wu Ji's half-sister like are they gonna ever tell us? 3. Did Zhang Bei Ye and Yan Lan Zhu ever get married it feels like they sort of forgot about that? another unpopular opinion but I found that couple so cringe-worthy. I mean one minute he can't stand being near her the next his full-on embracing her. Yer I get that she sacrificed a lot for him but still there's no realistic relationship development. His feelings for Fu Yao were here today and gone tomorrow. Even Vengo's acting was cringe-worthy it almost felt like they were brother and sister. Of course, it doesn't help that she was still calling him 5th brother. 4. Where were these alleged top saints when the world was about to fall apart? 5. Who's the rest of the saints? 6. How did Wu Ji survive all those stabs and slashes in the end after going through all he went through previously? These are just a few of the questions and plot holes that I had with just the final episode of the drama imagine how much more unfulfilled story there is left. If I was writing this show I would end it completely differently. Why is everyone afraid of a sad or suspenseful ending. I would end it with Fu Yao transforming into the witch killing Wu Ji and releasing Die Tie Feng or whatever his name is. It's a pisstake that after spending over 64hr hearing his name we never once got to meet him not even a glimpse and see just have terrible he is. If it ended that way it would leave a desire for a second season where we meet the top saints and an allegiance between kingdoms is formed to tackle Die Tie Feng's reign of terror. I would make it kinda like attack on titan and the walking dead where it seems like our heroes have no chance against the villain and then find a way to bring back Wu Ji or something. Re-start a fire (relationship wise) between Wu Ji and with Fu Yao ( who in this case would be completely heartless and unfeeling to the "love" her a Wu Ji shared before) and have the would relationship between good and evil thing Legend of Chusen kinda had and then wrap it up with Die Tie Feng being defeated and multiple weddings and babies. I mean I would 100% prefer this ending to the muddled last minute homework the writers came up with. The beginning had so much potential its just a shame that as the plot progressed things got more stupid.
I love love love the opening song of this show does anyone know more about the guy that sings it I want to know more about him I've been googling but apparently there's a lot of famous Zhang Wei's in China. I love his voice. If anyone knows anything about him I'll be interested in knowing- anything at all.
SPOILER I haven't seen the ending because I'm watching with subs but if Mu Le dies in the end then I hope Yu'nan will be miserable for the rest of her life cus let's face it shes had tonnes of opportunities to make things right. I mean every other character in the show knows shes I love with Mu Le/A Ying even xiao nan and the tree girl and they were side characters. I mean as a main female character you can be dense to ur love but not stupid. Ye Yu'nan is just plain stupid.
With the topic this drama choose to address I think they should focus more on Mi-rae's self love and self worth more than her relationship with the male lead. Granted we are only on episode 4 but I will be really dissapointed if this drama becomes another one of those drama where the leads actual issues and insecurites are just covered and swept under the rug.
I'll be honest there are moments in the drama where I feel like kicking Mi-rae in the ass. Sometimes shes to slow to get things. I mean I that her character is meant to have low self-awareness and emotional intelligence but come on there are moments when she should stand up for herself and when she fails to do so it annoys the hell out of me. I really can't wait to see her character evolve and maybe she learns more about self love.
