From my point of view, the main problem in this drama is neither the king or the princessm I am not saying they don't have they issues, but the real people causing so much unnecessary problems and disasters are the people they both kept beside themselves, the Chief Eunuch and cui Xiang [Chief secretariat- princess guy] . It's like they don't want peace between the king and princess. Always whispering negative and bad things about the other party. Making everything seem worse than it actually is.
I really don't understand why the king still keeps the Eunuch by his side. He is a king , and as a king -the type of people you keep close to you matter a lot.

You know, since episode 1 or 2 when they did the flash back of the moment Liu Yan first apparently killed Tian Li Ci, he didn't even listen to whaht Tian Li had to say before attacking brutall, I just get upset when he comes on screen. And you know what, he will definitely be redeemed, when he realises he was wrong and blablabla and our sweet ML will be very forgiving. This is just very very annoying to me.
Whenever Liu Yan type of character appears in cdrama, they are always a big headache. They will go extreme destroying people's life (not just their enemies, everyone they can use) for their so called revenge and at the end they find out the person's life they were trying to make miserable wasn't at fault, it was just a misunderstanding. And then because this person they were trying to destroy actually cared about them, they will be forgiven. While hundreds of people already suffered and died because of them.

If you have seen love in pavilion, you might be able to understand why i feel sad about this drama, even before watching. His mother created him as a last plan to save the humans and made his father promise not to cage him but love him and when he wants to quit, he should allow him do whatever he wants. But that promise probably got lost in all the father sadness and hatred. His father started out with so much passion for humans and demons alike, loving everyone until he lost everything to one psychopathic demon and now he just wants to eliminate every demon regardless of their innocence, he doesn't care anymore. This drama just feels very sad to me. Thinking about everything brings tears to my eyes, because who can we truly blame for what our dear FuGui had to go through?
