NH who stepped through the doorway - look a that the background behind him. It is the storybook world. I don't think this is the actor NF who she hugs at the end. JMO. The storybook character NH transmigrated to the modern world because of course he would never leave her.

About 1/3 through on watching it, I started thinking that this is going to really re-write what these type of dramas can be with its self-mockery, yet with heartfelt characters, blended with tragedy and humor. Now that I'm at the end, I believe that more than ever. This whole arc from start to finish blew these other stories out of the water and really delivered to the fans up to the very end.

Agree. Most of the endings to the transmigration stories rush things at the ending with a hurried epilogue that doesn't give enough room for the other characters who existed in the plot.

Yes. I stopped TPOB at ep 30 because I wanted to end it romantically happy.

and I'm okay with that. The storybook world showed they could gain their own autonomy. As long as you can eat eight buns a day, it's okay :D

Ep 37 was intense! Glad it wasn't ep 40! They really gave a satisfying wrap up to everyone with enough episodes to do it.

At the epilogue ending (after credits run) look closely at the doorway that NH walks through. The background is the storybook world before it fades out to be the office building interior. ;)

Now THAT'S how you end a story! Completely satisfying ending for everyone. Thank you!

Or like the end of Wizard of Oz where Dorothy wakes up in Kansas and everyone she knows in real life was in Oz.

Or he's from the Mod World. I've thought for some time that he might have been hard on NH bc he knew that NH would kill him to be emperor (original script). Kind of like a Greek Prophecy (think Oedipus who's parents were told he would k1ll his father and marry his mother).

So I had to sign up to post this as it's been on my mind. Probably will not be what will happen but I've been thinking of C.S. Lewis The lion, the witch, and the wardrobe. The children all grow to adults and live out their lives, but at the end are pulled back into the forest where the return to the real world. My dream ending would be the same. SYM and NH live out their lives (white hair) and be the emperor and empress of the book world before they return to the modern world at the end of their book life spans.

Just a thought but why couldn't he catch her, and Riley catches YTG?

Whatever it is, he didn't want SYM to know about it. So I'm thinking it benefits her.

JMO but the emperor did that on purpose. It was setup to expose the scriptwriter posing as CHG's dad. He said something about this being the special dish he was waiting for and certainly he would know that the general didn't eat venison since both his son and NH did.
