On Story of My Family!!! Mar 15, 2021
I'm crying! I just finished episode 7. I wasn't sure I liked this drama (It started off really problematic and weird) but at the halfway point (Episodes 5-6) I'm completely wrapped up in it. The earnest performances, the adult themes. Most of all, Kudo Kankuro's storytelling and Nagase Tomoya's commitment to this role.

I hope this isn't the last time KudoKan and NagaTomo collaborate on a drama or movie, because they really can create magic together when they try.

As soon as I saw Kobayashi Satomi and Motai Masako, I knew I had to watch. Ever since Kamome Shokudo, those two appear together in all sorts of quiet, quirky dramas. So far, with its magical undertones, this one does not disappoint.

Her pension is very large but it feels lonely secluded in the forest. It would be nice if she had a pet because…
Not really. Houses made of wood make all kinds of noises. In addition, the sound of the trees, wind, small animals like rodents and birds, noises of appliances, etcetera. And, of course, there's the ever-present mind, spewing thoughts.

Many people enjoy this kind of solitude, "silence," and close proximity to nature. It seems quite luxurious to me! The occasional desire for human contact can be fulfilled by inviting over or visiting friends or walking to the local shop or bar. In the case of this drama, she probably gets all she needs just from that gossiping grocer.

Yes. Until Season 2 in 2022.
I don't understand your question.

The season ended at episode 10. There will be a second season because the story of the series didn't end. The story of the TV series is different from the the webtoon.

Theory for second season: I think the one with cha Hyun soo in the car was not pyeon sang wook but the monster…
I don't think Seung Jae was the fiancee. I think we'll find out what happened to her fiancee in the second series however.

But that was Seung Jae possessing Sang Wook's body. So it's not a theory.

Okay I am sorry I hate to pop your bubble but that monster can not change form, it was in the webtoon. However,…
You're right; he can't transform. But he's not in his own body. They show him leaving his original body in the form of some kind of blood slime when he was at the prison, and then possessing the body we got to know him in. They show him in his slime form again when he possesses the armoured vehicle, AND that wasn't Sang Wook's voice greeting Hyun Soo; It was Seung Jae's.

The show doesn't follow much of the plot of the webtoon.

And I don't think he was Yi Kyung's fiancee.

Title Sweet Home Spoiler
can anyone spoil the ending to me?
Sure. Of this show, or of the webtoon? Actually, I'll just do both.

The show: Seung Jae, another special infected Hyun Soo fights and seems to defeat earlier, possesses the body of Sang Wook and drives away with an unconscious Hyun Soo in the back of an armored vehicle. Hyun Soo having been shot down by the military. Most of the others make it out through underground tunnels and are met by the military force that sieged the building and shot Hyun Soo earlier. They survivors are taken away in a truck to a "safety zone." Yi Kyung, the firefighter, joins the armed forces however, going against her beliefs presumably in the hope of finding out what happened to her fiancee. Eun Hyuk remains in the apartment building as it collapses around him; his nose bleeds. This is in no particular order.

The webtoon: The survivors are rescued by the army (who are never bad guys) and taken to a safe place. Hyun Soo eventually finds them and joins them. There is no subplot with Yi Kyung trying to find answers. Different characters survive or die. Overall it's pretty different from the TV series.

May be eun hyuk is still alive because they showed him bleeding before the building collapsed. Sang wook may also…
Sang Wook's body was possessed by Seung Jae offscreen. The armored vehicle he was driving is the one Seung Jae's blood possessed earlier. That was Seung Jae's voice greeting Hyun Soo at the end as well, not Sang Wook's. Sang Wook himself presumably died; he was shot running to the car.

As for Eun Hyuk, I don't think they would have done to the trouble of foreshadowing his infection and showing his nose bleed at the end if the wasn't going to return in the next season. That's too much time spent on setting up a b-plot to later say he died offscreen. I think it's likely something survived the building's collapse. Whether Eun Hyuk became a special infected or a monster, we'll have to wait and see.

Yes, there is a lot of gore in the show and there are some self harm scenes that could be uncomfortable and/or…
We don't see the self harm itself but we see scars from self harm, other scars, bruising, andmany wounds. In addition, there are graphic scenes of high school bullying, domestic abuse, alcohol abuse, and attempted suicide. This series doesn't contain nudity or English swear words, but is EXTREMELY gory. Tons of blood, severed limbs, evisceration, decapitation, broken bones, gunshots, dead bodies, gruesome monsters, etcetera. There is also an attempted rape scene near the end, and psychological horror (characters exhibit multiple personalities, arguing with their inner demons). Beyond that, there is lot of dirt, fire, flashing lights, and fights. If you are at all sensitive to any of these, please don't watch.

1) Why did the criminals (ep 9) suddenly appeared out of nowhere and what even was their aim (for taking Hyun…
1. It was implied they had escaped from the prison. they took Eun Hyuk because he had some medical knowledge and was the reason the rest of the group had survived so far. Otherwise they were just bad people, wanting to be in control of others. They stole the case from the prison and were trying to open it because they either thought it was valuable, or knew what was in it. The soldier stole it from them and they tracked him down to get it back.

2. Seung Jae saw them as a group he could manipulate and inevitable control. Or, if they found out what he was and turned against him, he could easily kill them all. Basically he was using them in his quest to find other special infected. He found Hyun Soo and so turned on the group.

3. I suspect we'll find out in season 2. I think he will have survived, but will either be a monster or an evil special infected. I think he and Hyun Soo will have to fight, before the end of the series. That's all my own speculation thought. The webtoon is apparently very different from the Netflix series.

How scary is this show? Does it have jumpscares? My friend told me it's very scary, but I've seen comments that…
It has a lot of gore and mutants. It's thrilling and suspenseful. You might find some of the scenes scary. One of the characters changes personality sometimes and can be a bit spooky. There are some very disturbing scenes, including everything from high school bullying to violent death. It really depends on what you've watched before and whether or not you think you can handle those kinds of things.

FOR ALL OF YOU WHO MISSED THE SUBTLE FORESHADOWING:One of the early symptoms of infection, as stated in episode…
At the start of the scene, Eun Hyuk is consulting his OWN temperature chart. If you recall, he instructed everyone to check their temperature day and night a few episodes earlier; a declining body temperature was one of the earliest symptoms of infection.

During this INCREDIBLY subtle bit of foreshadowing, we see Eun Hyuk note his body temperature has fallen to a mere NINE degrees Celsius. Normal is about 37! And he is on day ELEVEN of recording his temperature. The first day he started tracking, it was 32 degrees C in the morning and 35 at night, which was already outside the normal range.

Eun Hyuk could easily estimate that he had only 3 or 4 days at most until the dreaded day 15, when his nose would explode with blood and he would turn into a monster. It may have come as a surprise to you when his nose started gushing in episode 10, but to Eun Hyuk? Oh no. He'd known all along what was coming.

I hated this foreshadowing by the way. It was badly done. First of all, there was never a set timeline for the infection to take its course. Yes, if you could survive past day 15, you'd be considered one of the "special ones." But that doesn't mean you couldn't turn on day 1 or day 7 or day 14. Second, it wasn't clear that it was Eun Hyuk's chart, or how long his temperature had been falling. I had to pause and watch in increments to count the cells in the table and read the blurry text. I barely caught it the first time and didn't really get it until the last episode. I'm not surprised so few of you did as well. I don't think the show's writers expected as to catch it, but maybe to remember it in retrospect instead and have a little, "Ah HA!" moment at the end of the season.

FOR ALL OF YOU WHO MISSED THE SUBTLE FORESHADOWING:

One of the early symptoms of infection, as stated in episode 2 during the military's TV broadcast, was hypothermia. for your reference the normal human body temperate is between 36.5 and 37.5 degrees Celsius.

If you want to know how soon a certain character knew they were infected, please rewatch episode 8 from about 35:80 (16:48 left in the episode).

If you don't want to watch it for yourself, please refer to the very spoilerly reply to this comment below. Don't read it unless you know exactly who I'm talking about and/or have finished watching the series.

WHY THEY HAD TO KILLED OFF ALL THE STRONG CHARACTERS (except Hyun Soo and that firefighter lady), my most fav…
Well, that school bully *was* some sociopathic rich kid. He thought Hyun Soo was looking down on him. Unfortunately, Hyun Soo's father worked that kid's father and his family were too scared of losing their livelihood and probably felt Hyun Soo would eventually graduate and be able move past it. They were asking him to endure it. I think they cared, but their fear got the better of them. His sister was garbage though.

I still don't get why Jae Heon had to sacrifice himself like that. The security guard wasn't even a monster with…
I agree. Jae Heon's sacrifice was nonsense. It was such a poorly written scene and required too much inference on the viewer's part. So you know, he was going to die from blood loss after his arm was severed anyway. Yes, even if they had managed to stop the bleeding, there was a high chance he'd already lost too much blood. They had no way to do a blood transfusion had they even known his and everyone else's blood type. Even then, the risk of infection and resulting septicemia (blood poisoning due to untreated infection) was also incredibly high. Basically, after the arm was chopped, he was dead. Sorry to be the one to break it to you, but in an actual survival situation a lost limb is a death sentence.

The apartment had many more residents than those that met in the lobby. Some probably holed up in their apartments, only to die or turn into monsters down the road.

Protein monster was thrown out a window. Later one, protein monster killed tongue monster when it was feeding on the pedophile's body.

Gil Seop had been dying since long before the start of the story. He was near death. It seems likely he simply blacked out, much like an eclipse, while digging and only managed to come back to himself later, after the conflict was over.

Eun Hyuk's backstory was explored only in dialogue and the one photo we saw at the end. Which did kind of suck. What I got from the series: Eun Hyuk was a university student that had been accepted into medical school, but before he could attend his parents died in a car accident. Eun Hyuk's father was either a divorcee or a widower and married Eun Yoo's mother. I'm not sure if Eun Hyuk and Eun Yoo were half siblings or actually unrelated. Anyway, following the accident, Eun Hyuk left school to raise his sister and help her realize her dream of becoming a ballerina. Unfortunately, Eun Yoo lost respect for him when he did this and later injured her ankle so badly that she had to quit ballet.

Eun Hyuk was obviously incredibly intelligent and level headed; he approached every situation with logic and reasoning. However, he struggled to balance logic with empathy. He saw the situation they were in and quickly assumed the role of leader. It was the logical thing to do. He was unpopular but effective in his role, even though some of what he planned was merely theatre to keep the residents from realizing just how bad it was. Unfortunately, one of the early symptoms of infection is hypothermia and he had been tracking his declining body temperature for some time (this was far too subtle in the show). He knew he was near the end and chose death rather than risk his sister's life. He loved her more than she ever knew. I think all he did was so she would live, not for himself.

Sometimes the writing of the show was either too subtle or just bad. I don't blame you for being confused or disappointed.

I guess that's the sign of a well-written character; you cared enough about them to mourn their death in the end. Sad, but true.
