Yes, the romance is sweet and innocent, but it took a while for them to be together. There is sort-of a love triangle, but the show doesn’t focus on it (there were cut scenes). Much of the focus is on the students and school administration struggles during the war. I think the first 3 episodes were heavy on the war. Ep 4, we start to quickly get to know the characters.

Now ML back to Fan Cheng Cheng again. 😄

Yeah, the producers pretty much said that they only wanted Esther Yu and didn’t audition or consider anyone else. 😁 Esther is a master at cuteness. On the idol show, her adorable personality stood out among all the others. She is sunshine, kind, and supportive to others. So this kind of role is right up her alley.

I love how they selected actors that are similar to the characters in real life, instead of the big popular actors we keep seeing over and over again. The cast was perfect: the adorable Esther Yu and the young and rebellious, Dylan Wang, yet he has a heart of a teddy bear 🧸, and the handsome gentleman Zhang Linghe. The producers have mentioned many times the success about LBFAD is not about the actors being popular, but the passion some new comers put into the project and young crew involved. Esther and Dylan put their everything to this.

All those LBFAD jokes w/ the Moon Tribe greeting and chest beating are iconic! Heehee 🤣 People were doing the Moon Tribe greeting on their wedding day too. Maybe I will post those clips on here later. 🤓

"When Xinxin [Esther Yu] appeared, I thought "wow" straight away - isn't this our Xiao Lanhua chosen by the heavens?".
