My Journey to One of the Best Series. Ever.

It’s only 24 episodes. For a Cdrama, that’s only an appetizer, but it’s the main course and dessert wrapped with a cherry on top kind of good.

The storyline and cinematography are enough to pull you in but what really keeps you engaged are the characters and the acting. All the characters are intertwined and you follow them on their incredible journeys of growth and development. It’s all done in an intricate and smart way to keep us invested in all the wonderful characters, no matter how small of a role you may assume they play. The story is fast paced and you can’t catch a breath because it’s so incredibly good. You may think you know a character or where the story is going but they always surprise you with all the twists. You end up wanting to binge all the episodes at once. The visuals and cinematography are STUNNING. It’s dark, gritty, intense and captivating.

The acting. The stellar cast is beyond amazing. Every subtle reaction is incredibly powerful. Every big reaction is riveting. The actors really know how to make impacts with their skills. The director deserves an award. The script writer deserves recognition. This is truly a masterpiece.

Call the dentist bc all this sweet stuff is hurting my teeth!

10/10. One of the best series I’ve seen and not just in the BL genre. The storyline is original and the dynamic between the two leads exceeded my expectation. Their chemistry is very natural and all of their intimate moments seem so comfortable and real. The way they shot some of the scenes was so creative (that deep convo they had while walking through the neighborhood). The conversations are very heartfelt and intimate. You’ll be glued to the screen. The visuals of all the characters are out of this world.

The relationship between the leads are very mature and they deal with very serious conflicts not just petty ones. I love the built up to them getting together and once they are together, they’re sweet as ever.

Spoiler!

THE ENDING IS TO DIE FOR. I love that we got to see their married life. Ugh my teeth hurts from all their sweetness.

DISGUSTING depiction of S/A as romance

Disgusting show romanticizing sexual assault. Not only is the toxic relationship between the leads based on non consensual advances but also petty drama. A homophobe falls in “love” with a gay man but continues to choose to hurt him with demeaning behaviors is considered sexy? Tharn’s “friendship” with the older male who admitted to sexually assaulting him at age 14 is disgusting. The issue was addressed briefly and casually in the show. I stopped at episode 8. Can’t watch anymore. Not worth the time.

Would not watch again in this life

I’m going to start out by saying how this is somewhat similar to the recent hit Reborn Rich. You have the supernatural element of someone reincarnated and keeping their present memories in order to change the past. It’s the common theme of the good guys catching the bad guys.

It started out, gripping with a lot of interesting twists and turns. It’s always nice to see the good guys getting ahead of the game. However, the execution of the plot became pretty mundane towards the middle.

The bad guys’ moves became predictable and how the good guys saved the day also became pretty predictable. It was the same equation played over and over. For example, the good guy knew what the bad guy was up to so he showed him supposed secret information on a cheap word document that anyone could’ve typed up. The bad guy panicked, and the good guy won that battle. Next episode, same equation. The good guy knew what the bad guy did. Showed him some secret phone recording, bad guy backed off & good guy won that battle. It was the same rinse and repeat over and over.

SPOILER AHEAD ON ENDING

The ending was completely disappointing to say the least. Not only did none of the bad guys stay in jail, or learn from their past mistakes, you have a new villain on the rise. And the main villain supposed end was unclear and not resolved the way that we would’ve want to. It was a bizarre way to end the series. Fans ended up cheering for the end of all these bad guys only to learn that nothing the good guys did mattered. What a waste of 16 hours.

Absolute MASTERPIECE.

I’ve never watched two males on the screen with such intriguing allure before. Their chemistry is off the chart and even better than most male/female relationships. The way they speak their love language through the intensity of their eyes, the intricate words and subtle touches- all absolutely beautiful.

Acting: Gong Jun’s best work so far. You feel his pain and the complexity of his character all through his eyes and facial expressions. All of his scenes are truly remarkable. His portrayal of the cunning, playful and remarkable Wen Ke Xing is breathtaking. He is stunning in this drama. I am taken away by how he could easily transition between all these complicated emotions so effortlessly. I am definitely a huge fan, now.

Speaking of, Zhang Zhe Han’s portrayal of the righteous and distinguished Zhou Zhi is enough to last a lifetime. The softness in his eyes and the way he can control the scene with very subtle expressions are amazing. I love how his character develops and the overall story arc.

Storyline: 9/10. Absolutely outstanding. 37 episodes are not enough! We need more!!

2 Dramas in 1

Where do I start?

This drama is a good solid 9/10. The storyline is very interesting and engaging. However, it felt like 2 dramas rolled into 1 with A LOT of characters. The storyline all tied in nicely and kept viewers interested, but at times, you have to take a step back and remind yourself that you’re watching both a martial arts drama and political drama. I think they should have just focused on 1 category and the story would have been good either way.

The Good:
- Storyline: very interesting, very intriguing overall
- Actors: aside from my peeve about the FL being too young for the role, they did a good job overall. (I’ll expand more on this later)
- twists/plot: I love that the ML and FL are both incredibly intelligent and are alway one step ahead of the game. I hate watching dumb characters get manipulated and played on.
- no dumb love triangle: I love that the two leads fall in love and nothing came between them. All the characters were mature this way even if others were interested in the ML/FL, they knew to back down
- mature relationship: no dumb misunderstandings and schemings

The Bad:
- I felt as though the FL is too young looking for this role. Her character is a certified known martial arts leader and she looked 16. It didn’t make any sense. She looked good next to Yang Yang but honestly, you could tell the age difference is a bit off. She acted “tough” in scenes and I felt it was forced.
-Too. Many. Deaths.
- Odd part of ending (happy ending but one weird part, I won’t spoil).
- I wish they had another romance so we can have a second couple. There were so many good looking actors.

SWEET DRAMA WITH NO DRAMA.., OR PLOT

Don’t get me wrong. This is a must watch drama for the beautiful leads and ultra sweet scenes. It’s such a relaxing drama to watch and just enjoy the cuteness. It does lack a plot. It has mostly a compilations of the leads being romantic but the overall story is .. nothing. They go through very short conflicts and because they communicate well, they’re resolved quickly. There are no evil characters or stupid exes. No frustrating love triangles. There are A LOT of Chinese propaganda but it’s expected.

Ridiculous and waste of talent

First of, the main actors made a mistake choosing this script. The storyline is awful. I could not make it to the end. How many times must the FL act like a clingy, cringy and downright embarrassing stalker? It started out refreshing to see the FL taking initiative to pursue the ML but she became pushy, arrogant, and annoying. She basically threw herself at him and was OBSESSED with him. The story was basic, easy to follow and predictable but then it just got boring and draggy. I would not recommend this at all.

DYLAN, DYLAN, DYLAN

Y’all. I am SHOOKETH. Let me tell you. Try to get to episode 9… and you will be hooked. TRUST. It needs to build up to episode 9. Dylan Wang as the Moon Supreme carried the entire show to the moon and back. He was PHENOMENAL. He Worked this role like a BOSS. Sexy, masculine, fierce, strong, brave, confident and above all.. he feared NOTHING. He acted his heart out and honestly… one of the best actors of this generation.

Storyline: very, very interesting. Ignore some minor flaws (mostly the FL in the beginning) and you won’t regret watching. The FL shows a lot of character development and becomes very lovable.

Love: Their chemistry is fire! When they fell in love, they fell HARD. Like one of those, I will die for you a thousand deaths and flip off all them haters in the process with hellfire. Their love was indestructible. I enjoyed all the romantic scenes and affections.

Second leads: did not disappoint. They all kept their morals strong and no one was evil. Very enjoyable to watch.

OST: for the first time, I really enjoyed the music. Incredibly moving.

Overall, I’m off to watch more of Dylan’s other dramas. Huge fan, now!

Walk on By

This had so much potential. Yet, it was ridiculously executed.

Wife is abused by husband. Wife’s bff stepped in and decided to help bc bff’s mother was abused, and her client at the department store committed suicide due to abuse. Bff decided to be the heroine after turning away the other women in her life who suffered greatly.

2 women affected by domestic violence plotted revenge- kill the husband. Cool, right?? No. The idea was cool- then it became a comedy.

They had no idea what they were doing. Female bad ass-ism became sloppy murder, followed by stupid identity swap (how convenient) and more messy messy webs. Instead of a message about female empowerment, they fucked up the murder plot and had to be saved by another male over and over again. Even the male character was questioning why they were both so fucking stupid.

What should’ve happened- no identity swap. They plot the murder, executed it well, no suspicion. Wife learns to cope with her trauma, builds herself back up. Sister finds evidence, in the end, decides not to turn the wife in because she realized she also contributed to his murder by not acknowledging what he did wrong.

Call it BEAUTIFUL

A slow burn romance to top most slow burn romances. You got 2 incredibly complex characters with incredibly traumatizing histories and they come together to create a beautiful love story.

It starts out with our no non-sense badass but impulsive FL. She’s got revenge on her mind and she won’t stop at anything to achieve it.. until she meets our kind hearted and greenest of the green flags ML. However, she’s supposed to wreak havoc on his life as part of her revenge. So, what is a girl supposed to do? She fell in love.

It’s not a typical girl and guy fall in love kind of rom com. It’s about growing past your trauma, pain, internal conflicts, and allowing yourself to heal. I love that we get a no bullshit FL who’s not afraid to love, not afraid to protect those she loves and not afraid to love even her supposed enemy. Then, you get an incredibly warm and kind ML who’s slumped shoulders show a man carrying the weight of the world on him. What he needs is the love of a good woman. Here, enters our FL crashing into his world and coloring his blank pages. He also helps to bring colors into her black and white world. 10/10

OMFG.

Ok. Where do I even start? This was dubbed the HORNIEST BL drama to date and it did not disappoint. All of my wild BL fantasies came true. So many sexy men on the screen.

I read the history of how this drama came together and it was not the smoothest journey for the crew with the pandemic, budget etc. I was so glad to hear the Mile (Kinn) himself decided to step in and funded most of the project in order for them to complete the drama. What we got in the end was an incredible journey.

The chemistry between the leads and other couples were sizzling, sizzling like crotch on fire hot. Apo and Mile are incredibly handsome and sexy on their own so for them to come together, the screen and viewers stood no chance. We did not recover after the first episode, y’all.

The cinematography was stunning and the visuals in each scenes really captured the essence of the drama to the core. The steamy scenes… wow… groundbreaking. They really, REALLY, went there. They did not hold back. Phew!

Anyhoo… this is definitely a must watch for BL fans. I look forward to many more of these in the future.

Song MORE PLEASE

Song Mo/Li Yun Rui You can choke me anytime babe.

I love me a good “let me reset myself and fix this bitch” storyline. We got plenty of it in 2024 but this one definitely stood out because of the ML. Whoever thought to go with the ashy blonde but more balayage than full bleached wig for ML- you got all of us in a chokehold from episode 1. This new actor should be getting all the lead roles now. I saw him in a modern drama first in which I already thought he was so handsome in it but this… homeboy was drop dead gorgeous. His character made him even more desirable.

Ok, let me wipe my drool and get back to the storyline. Basically, FL had a shitty life, met ML, both got killed, both went back in time but only she remembered what happened. They met again, fell in love and thus blossomed this beautiful murder mystery romance action packed series. The leads have sizzling chemistry and I love that we don’t have dumb love triangle, no misunderstandings and lots of communication. Throw in some bad guys but they never outsmart our badass couple and you got pure magic.

We should all tell sunset about this series

Absolutely breathtaking. I love the cinematography, storyline and acting. It’s a compelling coming of age drama that pulls you in because it explores all complexity of friendship, family and love. The acting between the leads are just beyond words. Their tears captivated me. I love their honest conversations, inner dialogues and also the scenes where they don’t talk but you can FEEL their tension leaping off of the screen. Example, that scene on the beach when Teh discovered that he has feelings for Oh and they basically danced back and forth with their simple touches. You want them to kiss but the soft and tender touches transcended more of their emotions. This is definitely a must see for all BL fans.

The THRILL

This is not your typical rom com. It is so much more.

In a nutshell for those too lazy to make it beyond the first episode and to read an in depth review:

-ML and FL are in a marriage contract from an actual marriage contract agency
- ML’s crazy bitch ex wife picked his contract wife to punish ML thinking he would crawl back to her
- FL is the contract wife and when she found out how crazy the ex wife is.. she took revenge for the ML
- it’s a fucking good show
