Yes I do agree that it was vague on "that department killed" Xi Gua's biological father. What's worse is that it could be her adopted uncle, Fang Tian Lei, that killed him. She would be devastated again from the lies. There so many angle the story can go for Season 2 on Xi Gua's part. We do know that, no mattter what, Ning Yi is the only one can depart Xi Gua and her gang out of Lin'An safely. I can't wait how she will develop in Season 2.
As far as Xi Gua is better fit for Ning Yi than Tan'Er is debatable. Jin'er is a good fit for following every Ning Yi's plan on starting the preserved egg stand to building back the cloth empire. At the end, all the women has their own traits, personality and behavior. At the end of the day in the TV series, Ning Yi gravitates to Tan'Er even more. As I remembered correctly that the writer wants Ning Yi to have one wife than the novel which he had numerous wife. This will lead to the public image that it is okay to have numerous wives and combine with government politics, the series would be canned.
I have a feeling that this c-drama will have Season 3 at least.
The most character i dislike in the drama is The emperor. He is so weak ass and just playing with the girls...…
The Wu Emperor is 100% weak and totally the opposite of Jing Emperor, who in my opinion, how an emperor should be! It is main reason why all the Ministers and Generals in Wu has shown less respect to to emperor.

You nailed it. They are definitely brining Xi Gua back. Ning Yi will be an enemy to her if they meet again. My feeling is that because she wants to revenge her biological father death by the Secrent Investigation Department and the fact that Ning Yi lied to her, she will help Baili Hongji. If she do meet with Ningyi, deep down she really cares about him.
I suggest everyone not skip nor fast forward the bandit arc. There's a reason why the writer is trying to develop a connection between Xi Gua and the viewer. She'll be one of the important support cast members in Season 2.

The person who betrayed him in the beginning shows up in the end to help Baili Hongji and their plan to conquer Wu Dynasty. Perhaps in Season 2 we will see Ning Yi's plan and the cliff hanger is the person who betrayed him is still alive in the end of Season 2.
I doubt it but the person who betrayed him in real life is seen in the end helping the Baili Hongji to conquer the Wu Dynasty. His end is near doesn't mean Ning Yi will die but my assumption for Season 2 is that he will have to face harder decisions and will have many sacrificial death because of this. There's going to bloodsheds and many civilian deaths in both dynasties.
