He literally told her in the movie to go back to Yuan because he couldn’t love her. She told him she wouldn’t because she wanted to remain devoted to him. She didn’t take him at his word at all. I highly doubt the King simply telling her to find a boyfriend would have made much a difference. Even if he did, this time period in East Asian nobility and royalty didn’t afford women that right. Even if the king permitted it, it’s not likely the rest of society would allow it. Being gay was taboo too ofc but men held power, so they got away with it. In my opinion, this whole nonsense is the king’s fault by insisting two people he loves (in two completely different ways) have sex with each other for his own personal gain.

What nature is (no matter what you or I say) and what "God" is...are inherently different concepts. Rain falls and the sun shines on each of us indiscriminately and is evident to all without convincing. What you yourself *believe* your god says about what nature is requires a suspension of what is natural (pertaining to nature). Jews say a god parted a sea. Christians say man fed hundreds of people with a small basket of fish and bread. Muslims say their holy book was revealed by an 'angel'. If someone, even if your best friend came to you and told you something like this happened and that they saw it, you wouldn't believe it. But because a religion says it, then it's possible. I say this is truly unnatural. Homosexuality is found in multiple species, not just humans. It's in nature, thus natural. Humans didn't twist anything.
Also, you can't boil human attraction down to sex. By this logic, heterosexual men don't love women because they're personalities or beauty, they just love them because they want to be with them sexually.
But I digress, I'm neither Jew, Christian, nor Muslim and have a pretty bad impression of the last two given my experience with them. Something tells me you're probably one of the last two.

It also neglects the notion the gay man can in fact have a strong bond with straight or even another gay men and there not be sexual feelings there. As for the comment about the military, if gay relationships happen, they happen. It’s kind of innocuous. It’s also weird to suppose a reality in which an entire military force is gay. And even if they were, gay means attracted to men, not attracted to ALL men, right? Lol

Boston's redeeming quality is his honesty with the Nick. Nick always tries to get him to admit that he likes him or to just flat out confirm what they are, but each time Boston sticks to his guns about not wanting to settle down and draws the line. No matter how much time and affection are spent, Boston keeps it clear.

Also, Boston just likes sex. He doesn't even like Top like that, but he likes Top's look/attitude. Plus, because he knows the type of guy Mew is, he doesn't even want Top to be with him because he feels it wouldn't work. In a really snakey way, Boston sleeping with Top was for Mew's good. 🤣 I'm partially joking with that last part.

I get where you're coming from, but personally, I agree with Mew's question during the fight: Why Boston? Mew and Top weren't official yet, but neither Top or Boston had told Mew about their previous fling...likely because they knew it'd hurt Mew if he knew. So, why add insult to injury by sleeping with him again? I think Mew could have forgiven Top sleeping with some rando while they were still in their trial period (not sleeping with others wasn't a part of the deal anyway), but that it was Boston is the crappy part.

I'm curious as to where you draw the line in the context of C-dramas because although many are based on gay romance novels, virtually none of that is shown in the actual shows.

I feel the same way. I think the only thing that changes people like Boston is time. People can grow out of being a playboy, but no single boy/girl can make them just give it up. If Boston does end up settling down with Nick, I think the circumstances would need to be very special. Like a near-death accident in which Nick saves Boston's life or something.

I really see it for Sand and Ray, but I really hope Ray gets over Mew sooner rather than later. I should hate for Sand to find out that Ray's still in love with Mew and feel like he's being used as a consolation prize. No, Ray isn't really trying to do that, but I could see how it would seem that way to Sand.

Also, how many more red flags 🚩do we need from Top before Mew catches on, I mean, really? 😂

Sometimes it's nice when the BL fantasy takes a tip into the actual messiness of gay men. 😂 For better or for worse, Boston and Nick are the most relatable figures in this show for me.

When I hear his name, I think of Silom (same word, but with different spelling), which is a road in Bangkok with a lot of nice neighborhoods and fancy buildings and perhaps more importantly: the popular gay clubs and bars,. 😂

I read this theory somewhere else. I really hope that's what he does. It would make a much juicier story.
