Don't be too disheartened by the breakup scene.

WSW’s answer to CC’s painful question “Did you ever love me?” , wasn’t just out of anger or pride, but a deliberate, calculated choice by WSW.

Based on clues from both the novel and the series (-his inner monologue when leaving the KTV, - his reaction when he received Xiaoshuai’s call & his inner monologue),we can see that:

1. WSW intentionally chose to reveal both the truth about YY and WS’s supposed betrayal at the same time.
His aim was to force CC to confront his truest feelings: If WS never betrayed him, but WSW did, who would CC choose, deep in his heart? ( Dabao wins.)

2. If Dabao had said “Yes”. CC would keep looking for signs that it wasn’t true love — the doubt would remain like a thorn.
But by saying “No”, CC is forced to calm down and search for love in what seemed like absence. That finally resolves his emotional knot with YY forever , and clears the way for a love without barriers in their rest lifetime.(Dabao wins ×2)

Episode 18’s editing was fragmented and confusing. It weakened WSW’s sense of agency in his relationship with CC. WSW had been deliberately manipulating both CC and WS to cut WS out of CC’s heart .
Dabao wants a love from CC that is complete, wholehearted, and without reservations. Not a love with cracks. He must burn all bridges and pull WS out of CC’s heart forever.

But the show failed to show this clearly, likely due to budget and time constraints.

why are they lying to eachother 😔😔😔 so heartbreaking and frustrating because they are both saying things…
Haha, you’re really immersed in the story.

But in the original novel, WSW plan those things on purpose.
It was part of his plan — to have CC discover the truth about YY and, at the same time, be confronted with the truth about WS’s betrayal.
The simultaneous reveal was calculated.

WSW wanted CC to be forced to make a choice:
"WS didn’t betray you back then. I did.
Now, faced with these painful truths, who does your heart choose?"
WSW’s goal was clear: to rip WS from CC’s heart completely

The adaptation softened WSW’s role, making him seem more passive on screen.
But in the original story, he was always the one actively fighting for CC.

Just started watching Ep17 and Da Wei's mom is stressing me. Why does she thinknits okay to burden someone else's…
As the story unfolds, WSW’s mother’s love becomes even clearer.
In Episode 19, before she passes, she quietly reveals that she had long seen the truth about WSW and CC.

Her repeated requests for CC’s help weren’t random —
she was observing him.
Testing his patience, his character.

She wanted to be sure —
that when she was gone, Dabao would be with someone reliable,
someone who wouldn’t walk away,
someone she could trust with her son’s whole life.

After this episode 18 , people’s attitude toward CC has improved significantly. I’d also like to share some insights from WSW’s perspective:

WSW was influenced by a distorted view of love, instilled in him by WS.
This misconception is at the core of the emotional disconnect between WSW and CC.
Recall the title of Episode 16: “Liking means unconditional acceptance; love means unreasonable jealousy.”

— Misled by WS’s obsessive beliefs, WSW came to think that CC’s tolerance, gentleness, and restraint toward him were signs of mere liking, not love.
By contrast, WS’s jealousy, emotional outbursts, and even physical confrontation — along with CC’s visible concern for WS’s injuries — convinced WSW that CC loved WS on a deeper level.

— But from CC’s point of view, it’s exactly the opposite.
To him, the ability to be patient, to hold back, to care deeply without hurting — that is a more advanced, mature kind of love.
He was able to go seven years without contacting WS, but just six days of silence from Dabao (WSW) was unbearable.
That contrast shows just how deeply he loves WSW.

Daqiong…:
Mom always knew. Whether he was a colleague or just a friend — who would treat our family so well, for no reason at all?
I wasn’t blind. All those little gestures between you two at the dinner table… I saw everything.

I used to hope you'd find a wife, have a child — not because I didn’t accept you,
but because I was afraid.
Afraid that once I’m gone, no one would be there to take care of you.

But now… I feel at peace.
CC is a good kid — gentle, thoughtful, someone who truly cares about you.

That day at the hospital, I heard him say… “I’m her son.”
At that moment, I thought — this life of mine, it was worth it.
Giving birth to you was already the greatest blessing.
I never imagined that, in the end, I’d gain another son like CC.

When I see your father again, I’ll finally have something to tell him —
that our son is loved, and no longer alone.

Daqiong, I know you’ve always had a soft heart.
I used to worry you'd get hurt out there.
It was my fault — if I’d been more capable, maybe Yueyue wouldn’t have left.

But now, be good to CC.
Live your life together, take care of each other.
Don’t bully him all the time —
and if something’s wrong, talk it through.

Seeing you happy… that’s all your father and I ever wanted.
Never forget — no matter what,
we’ve always loved you more than anything in this world.

This episode was hard to take 💔 My poor heart. I understand WuSuoWei but I hate this trope 🥲
The preview for the next episode saved me.
It looks like Mom finds out about their relationship — and she’ll probably give them her blessing.
Honestly, that might be even more emotional than Episode 18.

Why did CC not tell WS he didn't love him. Didn't he just give WS hope? CC kicked out WSW out of the house, both…
Through his conversation with Xiaoshuai and later with his mother, Dabao has already resolved his misunderstanding about CC.
In the car, CC tells the driver that he never truly believed WSW had cheated — he pushed Dabao away because he was afraid he might lose control and get violent. At the same time, it gave WSW a chance to spend more time with his mother.

the break up only last 6 chapters. since they stopped around chapter 179 break up will be the start of the ep…
In the original novel, CC’s sister and parents intentionally had him sent to prison as a way to test WSW’s love for him.
At the same time, his parents cut off financial support and sold his apartment, leaving WSW to find a way to rescue CC on his own.
To save him, WSW sold his company and even his mother’s old home, giving up everything he had financially to bring CC back.
In the end, CC’s family had nothing left to say — they had no choice but to accept WSW.

I loved every second of this episode, every scene, every conversation, every choice they made to change it from…
I agree with your point, but there’s one part where the adaptation doesn’t live up to the original novel.
In the book, Dabao being pushed away wasn’t just a misunderstanding — he deliberately let CC see things the wrong way (a move connected to his congenital color blindness, which was removed in the drama).
It was meant to make CC feel guilty and emotionally cornered.
WSW isn’t as love-blind in the novel as he appears in the show — even in his rivalry with WS, he remains sharp and calculating.

What I thought after our couple got back together, is that even though Chi Cheng doesn't know that Suo Wei didn't…
In the car scene with the driver, CC clearly says he doesn’t believe WSW would actually have the guts to cheat.
He only pushed WSW away because he was afraid he'd get too angry and lose control.

Haha, 18,000 comments is nowhere near the highest.For comparison:KinnPorsche (Thai BL) – 173,252 commentsImmortality…
I just checked — Immortality hasn’t even aired yet, and it already has 100,000 comments.
I’m honestly shocked. I’ve never even heard of this drama before.

Surprisingly, the number of comments has already reached an astonishing 18,000.
I’m not sure what the record is for other popular BL dramas, but I wonder if RL has broken it.

Honestly CC throwing WSW out of the house was so funny and sad like why would you do that and they way bro just…
Later, there's an explanation in the car with the assistant: he pushed WSW away because he was afraid he might lose control and lash out.
It’s not that he believed WSW was actually cheating — he was just jealous and angry.
Ironically, sending WSW away gave him the chance to go home and visit his mother.

WSW only sees Wang Zhen as his idol, nothing more. When WSW said he likes Wang Zhen, it's in the place of admiration…
I think there's a mistranslation in the version of the show you're watching. In the scene where Xiaoshuai says, "You’ve caught feelings," and WSW responds with "可能嘛?" (translated literally as "Is that possible?"), the meaning in Chinese is actually a strong denial — equivalent to "Of course not" or "No way." I'm not sure how that was interpreted as a sign of emotional infidelity.

I think there's a mistranslation in the version of the show you're watching. In the scene where Xiaoshuai says,…
Please stop replying to me. I am Chinese. No one on Xiaohongshu or Weibo has misunderstood this scene like you did—there is absolutely no discussion about WSW being emotionally unfaithful.

Whether it’s “可能吗” or “可能嘛,” it doesn’t affect the meaning. The key to understanding lies in the rhetorical tone—rhetorical questions imply the opposite meaning.

In both the novel and the drama, WSW never shows any signs of emotional infidelity toward other men. Essentially, he is still a straight man who only has romantic feelings for CC. In the novel, he liked other women, but as for men, he has no feelings for anyone except CC.

I don’t understand why you’re so fixated on assigning a moral flaw to WSW’s relationship. Please do not reply to me again. As someone who has read the novel and is a native Chinese speaker, I believe my understanding is more accurate than yours.

Throughout the entire storyline, WSW never showed any signs of disloyalty to CC.His conversation with Xiaoshuai…
If you understand Chinese, WSW’s response “可能吗?” is a standard rhetorical question. Any native Chinese speaker would immediately understand it as meaning “That’s impossible.” If you choose to interpret this rhetorical question as a sign of emotional infidelity on WSW’s part, that’s your personal interpretation.

I believe there's a problem with the translation of the show you're watching. In the scene where Xiaoshuai says, "You're falling for him," WSW responds, "Possible?" — in the context of Chinese, that clearly means "Absolutely not." I don't know how you interpreted that as emotional infidelity.

I didn't like how Wu Suo Wei is making Chi Cheng jealous on purpose, I don't find that funny or appealing. What…
Throughout the entire storyline, WSW never showed any signs of disloyalty to CC.
His conversation with Xiaoshuai expressed his insecurity — he wasn't sure if CC truly loved him.
He said that if CC were to leave him one day, Wangzhen would be a “decent excuse” for a breakup — but that doesn't mean WSW was unfaithful.
He had no romantic feelings for Wangzhen at all.
