Absolutely amazing first episodes, and then it becomes long... long.... and you only wait Seungri scenes which…
same here, it started off well for me until it became so long and dragging. The story became so boring afterwards that I ended up falling asleep while trying to watch. I dropped it around episode 10 too, and from then onwards I only watched scenes of Seungri and skipped the rest. Teddy and Ellie were the only cute couple in this drama, while the OTP bored me to death.
It's seriously good...words can't describe it. Last episode for this season airs this Sunday. Why not start watching it now? You won't regret it. Especially if you're like me who have read the original Three Musketeers story, I love how this adaptation is so original, unique, while not straying too far from the original :)
I can't get why people are saying Rain is too old for the role or Krystal and Rain ages are too far apart... >.<…
Even though I have now converted to Shiwoo ship since episode 10 or so I don't really dislike the drama even though it's a mess...I still think it's better than the Heirs at least. That drama...I can't even. I watched til the end of that drama and the "Love is the moment" OST was so terrible. I cringed every time that song was played. It's so overused.
This drama is becoming harder and harder for me to watch because 1) the age difference between the characters…
And even what I can see, she's never her true self in front of Hyun wook. She doesn't even return Hyunwook's hugs every time he hugs her. Episode 12 the only one time Shiwoo hugs her, she returned the hug. Like I feel she is more comfortable to express herself in front of Shiwoo. To me Hyunwook is just someone she is infatuated with but in the long run, she would be better off with Shiwoo. They have so much more chemistry. Hyunwook is better off as a brother figure or friend than lover.
Although I ship Sena with Hyunwook initially, the more I watched I feel that Sena has more chemistry with Shiwoo. Even in terms of acting, the reason why I tuned into this drama was because of Krystal. I really liked her acting in the Heirs despite the drama's boring plot and she was a standout in terms of acting and chemistry with Chanyoung (Minhyuk). However, here it feels like she has more rapport with Myungsoo than Rain.
And with this recent episode (12), when ShiWoo hugged her, I can't help but noticed she even hugged him back. Compared with Hyunwook, she never hugged back but has her hands at the sides. With Shiwoo she acts more like herself and seem more comfortable to be herself in front of him. I don't see this whenever she's with Hyunwook. Not sure if anyone else agrees, but for me, I've jumped to Shiwoo's ship lol.
His love for her seems more sincere and it looks like even though she rejected him, he's careful not to hurt her. He's quite pitiful but I like the fact that he still tries to hang on to her. His character reminds me of Jung Yonghwa's character (Shin Woo) in You're Beautiful. They both have similar names too haha. It feels like I'm always destined to have second lead syndrome in every drama I come across (sigh).
Episode 11 left me in shock, I'm so heartbroken...poor Dalhyang (I cried so much...I feel like both him and his family are so innocent they don't deserve this. The world is such a cruel place for a sweet guy like him). And omg massive cliff hanger at the end!! This feeling reminds me of watching Nine: Time Travel Nine Times. The writers/PD are so good at giving you a false sense of security that the characters are finally having a happy ending yet to have it all come crashing down in the form of tragic events. This really keeps me watching....now I can't wait for the finale of this season!! Such a good set up to leave us hanging. I want a happy ending. And Mi-rung is so evil!!! She definitely reminds me of her character from the original three musketeers story. However, I feel that in this version they're trying to make her character more sympathetic with audiences, but her core character is still so evil. Just like what Dalhyang said to her when she claims both the prince and her love each other - "You call that love? This is not love". It makes me shake my head when she attempts to justify her actions to Dalhyang...I mean look at Dalhyang. He's an example of what love should be about - each other's happiness. He still cares for the princess and letting her go was the best thing for her and her future. He wanted her happiness more than his own desires. Hence why initially he did not like the prince at first because the prince did not make Yoonseo happy. Yoonseo also did the same thing for Dalhyang by letting him go so that he will have a better future. At the end of the day, loving is letting go if it is what the other person wants and you know that is what's best for them. Dalhyang was right when he said that Mirung's love was not true love but rather an obsession for the prince and position of princess. She doesn't care for the Prince's true feelings.
PS. Did they just let Minseo's long hair down at the last scene? Or is he dressing up as a girl?? Hahaha, he's so pretty.
I know and I'm usually someone who always prefer to the original version first. I used to watch Jdramas before watching the korean remake, like Hana Yori Dango and Hana Kimi. And I always prefer Japanese version. Kdrama usually isn't as good after seeing the Japanese version since I'm always constantly making comparisons. So this time round, I'm glad I haven't watched the Jdrama first or else I might probably be biased and not like this version. I like to judge a drama on its quality, and it is better especially if I haven't seen previous versions to always constantly compare. So far, for me, based on the pace/music/story/acting, I think it's doing quite well as a start. The advantage of having not seen the previous versions allows me to judge from an objective point of view. Also, I was never much of a fan of Kim Soeun nor Lee Sang Yoon's acting either. This time both actors impressed me. That's my opinion.
Ps. Liar Game (J-version) is definitely on my watch list. Will see it after this finish airing ^.^
Great start to the drama. I'm enjoying this show so far, can't wait for the next episode!!
By the way... Anyone else noticed that the lead actor - Lee Sang Yoon, is the same actor from Angel Eyes (2014) who acted alongside with Gu Hye Sun? So basically, he was together with Gu Hye Sun and now he's with Kim Soeun - both girls played best friends in Boys Over Flowers (2009) as Jandi and Gaeul respectively. So in just one year, he not only got to one girl but later went to her best friend as well ;) Lol!!
You're also doing the same time by judging a drama which has just started too! SMH :p
FYI, if a drama can hook me from the start then it's actually a good thing. Not a lot of dramas start off that way for me. I'm well aware that it can turn the other way later on but just for now and as a start I think that shows a lot of promise. I guess everyone has their own opinions, and I'm just expressing mind :)
I haven't watched the Japanese one yet and I'm happy that I haven't cz then my mind would be bogged with comparisons!…
It's the same with me, I haven't watched the Japanese version yet but it's been on my to-watch list for a long time. I used to start off with watching Jdramas but ever since I got introduced to Kdramas I haven't got time to catch up on those Jdramas I wanted to watch. I've seen Kim Soeun before when she acted BOF and I'm loving her in WGM, but she doesn't stand out as much to me. Same with Lee Sang Yoon, I first saw him in Angel Eyes but that drama I ended up dropping since it got boring. So I was very surprised when they were both casted for the remake of Liar Game. I was a bit apprehensive especially when the first episode aired and everyone was bashing it and saying that they ruined Shota's and Erica's character. But I thought why not just give it a try and watch the Korean adaptation first then Japanese later? I might as well judge the quality for myself, and boy I'm so glad I did because the actors and production of this story is so good! I'm particularly surprised with LSY since this role is so much better that his previous drama. Story is really good too, which makes can't wait to see the Japanese version once this finishes. I like KSE as well in this drama...she conveys her feelings really well. I'm glad she is having more spotlight this time. I think she's proven to be a great actor. Same with LSY...I'm now officially a fan of both actors!!!
For those of you curious about which character is which from the original Three Musketeers story. tvN's website had it listed (which I got from dramabeans)...
Dal-hyang – D’Artagnan
Prince Sohyeon – Athos
Seung-po – Porthos
Min-seo – Aramis
Yoon-seo – Queen Anne
Mi-ryung – Milady de Winter (Athos's ex-wife and Cardinal's spy)
Ingguldai – Duke of Buckingham
No-soo (Eyepatch) – Rochefort
King Injo – Louis XIII
Kim Ja-jeom – Cardinal Richelieu
Choi Myung-gil (minister) – Treville (The Three Musketeer's captain/mentor)
Pan-swe (Dal-hyang’s servant) – Planchet
The one not listed yet is Constance Bonacieux. I'm thinking we may be introduced to her later and that my bet is on Tani. With Tani's cute reaction towards Dalhyang, I actually think Tani will be Constance Bonacieux. Anyone thinks so too? She's an important character not to be dismissed since she is someone who D'Artagnan (Park Dalhyang) later falls in love with.
My bet is Tani will be a beautiful adult in the later seasons and Dalhyang saves her from Kim ja-jeom. Then falls in love with her! Hehe. What are your thoughts/theories?
Omg this guy is too hilarious on We Got Married. He's so cheesy haha, love him! He's so different from the character he plays on dramas. Real life him is the best!
Yonghwa oppa's acting improved by milestones. This is his best drama so far, his character is so cute and innocent! Who wouldn't love Dalhyang?? I think they chose the right person to play his character. In the past I used to think of Yonghwa's characters as 'Yonghwa trying to act' since it's obvious he isn't as good as other actors; however, since MiRae's Choice and especially Three Musketeers, I actually believe his characters more as he's able to bring them to life. He's able to express emotions that portrays his characters more realistically, therefore making it more believable.
