I feel like I need to explain myself so here goes: Double - use of framing, foreshadowing, misdirection, I mean…
Thank you for taking the time to explain! There are so many films and shows where I don't really love them (much less like them—some of which I actually voted for haha) but I respect the way the creators have executed certain things. I enjoy learning from film whether it is from the story, characters, or the art of the film work itself. I will have to check those out! <3
do I have to watch ss1 first before I can watch and understand this?
I mean, you don't HAVE to do anything lols. However, I would highly recommend watching the first season before hand. Not only was it marvelous, but it also sets up the characters and their stories. The writer puts a lot into the individual lives of the detectives, and so some of this build up will be lost if a viewer has not seen their first story.
Also, Jang Seung Jo has an amazing character and he does an incredible job. And also Oh Jung Se is in the first season, and that man is ridiculous how good he is. And also...it's been two years since the first season came out and I'm still here talking about how good it is.
It can seem daunting to watch two seasons of a Kdrama, but when you consider how good the first season is, you don't want to miss it.
I don't think women's position is very much better in many countries of this world right now and in real life…
Abuse is unfortunately a real thing, I agree. Because of this, many people suffer from anxiety and PTSD which can be triggered by certain things—despite their will and logic—that society deems "normal" and "human experience." It is good to be conscious of others! <3
I haven't really seen it discussed or advertised, so I just wanted to take a second to point it out.If you haven't seen this show, please note that it contains toxic relationships throughout as well as sexual assault (unwanted kissing). The drama aims to portray the limited rights of women during the Joseon time period, but in doing it so illustrates it through potentially harmful content. I wrote a little about this in my review, but I just want people to make sure to take care of their mental health. ☺️
This isn't a show I personally recommend to people because the toxic content was more challenging for me to handle. However, the history and awareness of it all is certainly important. I hope that helps.
Wait, is it even fair to put Yoo Ah In on here for literally anything he has done because his acting is always perfection? That must be the reason none of his stuff is here. Cause I mean....
Oh Jung Se in "It's Okay to Not Be Okay." Whatever he was feeling, I felt it too. Man, he crushed it. "Flower of Evil" was my other pick as I got completely sucked in with those eyes that were good and evil at the same time. I also picked "Fight for My Way" because Seo Jun Park shocked me so hard a few times in that show I was left crying before I knew I had started.
I watched the first episode but dropped it because the acting is low quality. While I value the efforts put into the series, in case acting is important to you, then you may want to skip this one or at least put it on the back burner. Cheers!

I mean, you can. But you don't want to. <3
Happy watching!

Honorable mention for "Kill Me Heal Me"
