I get that you think they have a deeper relationship, but at the end of the day its not her place to say anything especially not in this manner. He was way to nice to her the first time and was too stunned to speak the second time. Also the way she treated him on his first day of work was just not acceptable. Wasnt it enough for her to try and manipulate his chances of getting the job?

The best example is the romance tag. You can have a spy show where people get murdered, poisoned and beheaded but as soon as the leads kiss once (in like 40 eps) its an instant romance tag
