Drama adapts the main themes of the book. So not sure how true to book the ending would be. Book ends with fan xian becoming nearly most powerful person of world and leads a lesirely life but not completely for his people's security. Lead pair stay together and have a daughter. But duoduo is kinda like his unmarried wife. (Since she is free-spirited)
