The ending ruined everything. They changed a lot from the novel, killing off characters who were alive in the original just for shock value. They took a pacifist approach with the villain. They didn’t even let Yan Ze kill him because of that approach, and due to Yan Chi’s intervention, Yan Ze ended up dying instead.

What kind of revenge is that when everyone believes the villain was a good person? His death felt completely undermined compared to the cruelty he committed. And then they made his son the emperor, which is exactly what the villain wanted. So he basically won.

Nobody knows he was the treacherous, fake emperor, and the people who actually tried to get revenge, like Yan Ze, had their names tarnished just to preserve the villain’s reputation. The main leads didn’t even get proper revenge, and most of the so-called “villains” in the story just ended up committing suicide.

Chinese BL fans can be so short-sighted. Many don’t seem to care if BL content gets banned, as long as they get to enjoy it in the moment. But I’m genuinely worried about the BL authors who are facing serious consequences. Weibo just banned the super topic for Revenged Love, which had over 280k followers. It seems someone in the higher-ups noticed how popular the show was among Chinese netizens, especially when compared to the expensive straight dramas, and they weren’t too pleased about it.

She’s just air headed with the attention span of a goldfish. This was obvious from episode 1 when she asked basic questions to the girl next to her, complained about her script being too long, and even suggested dumb ways to shorten her lines. She literally fell asleep during work. She doesn’t seem to realise that NH always ends up saving her. It’s been shown so many times. Even when NH was the one trying to hurt her or when he was chained up, he still broke free just to save her. She even wrote it down as one of the “rules”. But she only uses her unemployed brain cells when it’s convenient. Like how does she not connect the dots? NH stops showing up and suddenly a masked guy appears every time she’s in danger? It’s clearly NH.

She was set on marrying the general at first, but the moment Li saved her a couple of times, she completely changed her mind.

I dropped the drama at episode 10 too. The plot was way too predictable, and those first few episodes were just clickbait to reel us in.

“LS was just another scheme NH came up with to manipulate her and put the country at risk… blah blah blah.” If she were actually smart, she would have figured that out from the start, not 20 episodes later. But since she’s already fallen for Li, she’ll probably mope about it for a few days and then everything will magically get resolved.

I bet male lead will probably be forced to develop feelings for the stepsister just to serve the script, and then the story will spiral into a mess of drama and misunderstandings.

The beginning of episode 1 literally pointed it out. Romance fans will accept anything, even if it’s full of inconsistencies, just to keep the plot moving. I guess we really do have to turn our brains off to watch this.

Her most air-headed moment was right after Li saved her for the first time. There were so many obvious similarities between him and Nen, especially in the way he spoke. How did she not put two and two together? She didn’t even listen to the general when he tried to share his suspicions. And let’s be honest, his eyes looked exactly the same, mask or not. She had seen Nen’s face multiple times and still couldn’t recognise him just because he was wearing a mask?

I actually enjoyed this drama at first because the female lead seemed intelligent and self-aware. But then they completely derailed her character after she met Li. She even mocked the original heroine for falling for a guy just because he saved her a couple of times, only to do the exact same thing herself after Li saved her. The irony is unreal.

It’s a weird fetish. What’s next, amputation kink getting mainstream airtime too in the name of fiction?

China, you ban TikTok trends and Winnie the Pooh. Time to add Omegaverse to the list. Do your thing.

Do some women actually have the mpreg fantasy? As in, men. Pregnant. With babies. Is it the swollen belly or the sheer absurdity that does it?
