Well, I've read mixed reviews below. Some love it and others don't. I personally didn't like it, but you might like it. I just found it rather boring and then there's the CGI...
ok the dislike presented by muslims here is not on the fact that they used islamic/arabic stories but at the abhorrent…
See, this is the kind of comment I can accept and see your point of view. I'm not muslim, so the story in this drama doesn't mean anything to me, but the explanation does allow me to understand why some wouldn't like it and would feel upset over it. The comments I'm referring to, are where they are literally pouring out hatred and use vile words about the drama and it's cast. It's when you see hatred and vile comments, that it puts you off from wanting to even slightly understand muslim point of view.
I just learned of this "cancellation" based on 'romanticizing Iblis, the demon Islam'? It even seems like…
I get that it can upset some people, but there's a way to go about expressing your dissatisfaction. Claiming the drama makes islam and muslims look bad, whilst in fact, their own comments make it look bad is hypocritical. It's not like it’s a documentary, it's only a fantasy drama. If this is how they react to this drama, i bet in the future no-one will want anything to do with islam or muslim culture at all and then they will complain how it's never represented anywhere. I’m catholic, if I watch something and I don’t like how catholics are represented, I just stop watching, I don’t go out of my way and leave nasty comments all over the place.
People do realise that this is just a fantasy drama and not a documentary, right? I really enjoyed watching this drama and it was good watch to the end.
This drama was good, but it lacked something. I wish they just had Lee Do and Moon Baek characters work as a team, because that was interesting to watch in the earlier episodes.
Something felt off with this season. It felt almost rushed? The strong friendship between them had no real build up, it just went from zero to hundred real quick. Si Eun seems to have been downgraded to a failed pen stabber... the calculations he used to do in his head when fighting seem to be gone completely. Compared to this season, he was way better at fighting even before Suho trained him in S1.
I'm actually disappointed by this movie. There was a lot of potential in the story just wasted away. One murder and he got caught? It would have been so much more interesting to have seen him murder at least few more criminals before getting caught.
What the hell was this season!? It wasn't even a parody of S1, it was outright mockery. I absolutely loved S1and was so excited about S2, but what the hell was this? The "comedy" was just awful... there was nothing to like about this season at all.
I have a mixed opinion on this drama. I don't regret watching it, but i was about to drop quite a few times, because as the episodes went by more and more characters were being introduced, but we weren't being given any explanation as to what was happening. Overall, it was interesting, and there were definitely quite a number of scenes where the actors gave it their all that I nearly ended up crying. Overall, 7/10 for me.
But look at the directors work before this, only high quality dramas. I wonder what the heck went wrong here...…
I have just looked after reading your comment, and yes, Through the Darkness was an amazing drama and I can see that this director was an assistant director of the 1st season of Fiery Priest, so maybe like you mentioned, it's all down to rushed production.
The purpose of keeping it funny all the time.....is what's making it NOT funny all the time. Comedy feels forced…
Agreed. The director and screenwritter changed for season 2 and you can most definitely feels the results of it. I'm trying to watch this, but have had to take breaks in between because of the over the top "comedy".
So far this feels like a parody of The Fiery Priest season 1 and I hate that because of how much I loved the 1st season. They should have kept the original director and screenwriter from the 1st season if they decided to do season 2. I absolutely can't stand Park Dae Jangs character, it’s so over the top childish and unrealistic that it's putting me off whenever he comes on screen. Also, I wish they kept the female police officer from season 1, the female detective here is lacking something. She was good in The Worst of Evil, but just doesn't seem to add much in this drama.
