I have to say~ it took 4 episodes, but I am totally in love with this show now :)

To everyone who was a fan of the movie~ this is just an adaptation. You have to watch it as you would a LA adaptation. Otherwise you will endlessly compare it to the movie and won't enjoy it at all. I had that mindset in episode 1 and I couldn't even get through it the first time around.

I don't understand the censorship issues sometimes~ it's not like there is anything about the government or anything pornographic, etc.

I wish I could read the book~ is there an English translation.

It's sad to know that they shot almost 100 episodes worth of footage but cut it down to 70 because of censorship issues. I think we would have gotten a different story if there were no censorship issues. You get the weird inconsistencies with the plot when a story is cut short or rehashed from a bigger episode count. Very thorough review though!

I would never watch this raw~ I don't understand any Chinese so I'll patiently wait for the clean screen releases with subs from Netflix :D
