There are some points I agree, but god, your taste is quite bad if you think Alice in Borderland was better.
Well if I rated it on mydramalist it would be a 5.5 or 6 from me. Which is a lot better than the 3.5 I have SquidGame. They’re both recent enough, both Netflix, both survival game horror shows, and both focused on excessive gore. I just preferred the story of Alice in Borderlands a lot more, the side characters had more depth.
Glad to be of help. Honestly I rated it very low because I couldn't see much value in the production. Someone…
wait, what? What does it mean to use the US metrics vs French metrics...what are US metrics?
Also what sort of person comes in these reviews and comments scolding you. It might be a trend, there's another drama I rated super low and some old woman came in and yelled at me for days about being an illiterate child (neither of which I am) just because she was personally offended on behalf of the drama lol.
Oh please, I think the OP rated the acting higher than me, and I struggled to even put it that high. The single…
They're at 5.5 and I'm at 5, currently. But yeah, I didn't see their review when it was at 1. Even then, 1 is 10% and I'd still say it's a more than fair assessment to say that 10% of the actors were great XD
Pretty in terms of cinematography. Like everything is so well presented visually and the supporting sound effects and music were expertly done. The entire thing is a feast for the eyes with zero content for the brain otherwise.
Like the scene with the tug of war, when they show the people piled artfully in pools of blood on the floor, the colors and composition of those shots were incredible.
I don't write a review for every show I watch for the same reason. I write reviews for ones I really like or really hate. The funny thing is...reviews are supposed to help you pick a show you might like...but I don't read a show's reviews till after, to sort of compare my thoughts to other people's. To see what I missed in the way I experienced or thought about the drama. Sometimes I use other people's reviews to find other shows I might like, if their mindset is interesting or similar to my own.
It's Ok to Not Be Ok (which has a really fun goth fashion/set theme), and Hyena (which has one of the strongest…
It's difficult to find female anti-heroes as lead characters in Kdramas because they usually get relegated to the role of having to fix the male anti-hero's various issues. The female lead in Itaewon Class is pretty anti-hero. Both female leads in The Cursed I'd consider anti-hero (The Cursed is actually really good if you haven't seen it yet). I can't think of any others off the top of my head.
How about you, got any great anti-heroine recommendations for me?

You should write some reviews. It's always interesting to read what other people think. Less interesting when they only challenge other people's ideas and never present any of their own XD

It's easy to get caught in the trap of a drama that looks pretty. I really wanted to give the drama a high rating...but when I stepped back after the end and reviewed the impactful elements of the story I was left with the impression that I'd basically been regifted a turd I'd already been gifted multiple times over. I think the shorter format of this drama really forced the story into a much more shallow and superficial place than I'd anticipated. Either that, or the writing just sucked. It's pretty indefensible that it's the format when 2 hour long movies can do better in 1/4th the amount of time to work with.
I don't think your score for the acting/cast is fair if I'm honest. Even if you don't like a show, especially…
Oh please, I think the OP rated the acting higher than me, and I struggled to even put it that high. The single solitary good acting performance came from the main lead. The rest of them were just regurgitated tropes of people in generic devastation. Like...it's not the actors' fault the characters were written so poorly, there's really not much for them to even do with such flat underdeveloped characters. If you take the dozens of actors with some level of minor backstory and lump them all into the same "acting" category, I think a 55% is excessively generous.
Aside from Kingdom, can anyone recommend Korean dramas with anti heroines?
It's Ok to Not Be Ok (which has a really fun goth fashion/set theme), and Hyena (which has one of the strongest no shits given female leads I've ever seen)
The Devil Judge seems to be popular in this comment section, which I'm happy about. I was hearing some really…
You should absolutely watch The Devil Judge. I know a lot of people whine about Kim Ga On being gullible, but really he's like that to mimic the trap all humans fall into, switching views to fit whatever the easiest/prettiest narrative is, verifiably true or not. We all fall prey to believing whatever the media promotes, we all dislike people just based on a friend's words, we all want to block our eyes from the uncomfortable reality around us. The Devil Judge was super super well done if your expectation is for actors to behave like people behave...not actors being unrealistically clever (except the main protagonist).
This was recommended by netflix, do not know why since we have no interest in these kinds of dramas. Checked it…
My Netflix now recommends 98% kdramas lol. But yeah, you missed literally nothing....3 annoying overbearing dudes bicker over the same woman who they loved but disappeared 14 years ago. She didn't change her name, she'd been living in their immediate area for many years...they exclusively loved her and never dated any other person for 14 years but never once bothered to, idk, google her? After 14 years she suddenly runs into all 3 pretty much the same day. It's so far into the realm of unrealistic that it should be classified a fantasy.
I'm a completionist or I might have dropped it too XD. Plus...I mean, thinking about how many people put their sincere efforts into every drama I always feel bad not watching the whole thing.
I mean, she’s actually really attractive but her hair in this makes her look like a 3-year old child. It would actually work on like an uber sophisticated character with a completely redone wardrobe…but when her wardrobe is also pretty much toddler clothes and her character is playing a wide eyed little idiot…it all ends up making her look pretty bad together.
For reference, IDK about Korea but in the US where I'm from it's actually fairly common for people who are barely able to function at life due to trauma to be left to their own devices. It's pretty difficult (and prohibitively expensive) to get institutionalized and when it does happen it's very temporary. Generally speaking, in the US, unless you have active plans to off yourself or someone else (or have a court ordered institutionalization), they pretty much just give you therapy sessions, tell you to be patient with yourself, and meditate. For me, her treatment and state definitely seemed like status quo more than unreasonable. She could still feed and clothe herself, it seemed like she bathed regularly, she left the house even if it was difficult, and she definitely didn't seem dangerous in any relevant way.
Actually, the man's illness was more stereotypically depicted to me...like a man with anger management problems, we've for sure seen lots of that. Though them adding in the very accurate emotional state of crying for no reason was an informed and masterfully executed touch. I like it when shows like this one, or It's Ok to Not Be Ok, or Hyena show the effects of PTSD on women. I get tired of people doing what you've mentioned up there, just assuming women who are upset are hysterical paranoid crazies. I liked that they showed both the daily reality of living with her condition and the reaction of the general public to her behavior. It seemed very true to life to me. Trauma really does break some people like it broke this woman...and other people have different coping mechanisms like the lead in Hyena.
I think what this drama gets right is that you have to see the current state to understand her mindset and her decisions/actions. You have to understand where she is at the beginning to appreciate how far she gets at the end. There isn't really a broken + love = fixed, and I think this drama did a good job avoiding the trap. It's broken + love = still broken but baby stepping toward being ok enough to function.

But that's a secret...shhhh....
