On The Director Who Buys Me Dinner Jan 10, 2023
I loved the art and the delightful humour in the manhwa ( I wish the series has used more of it, since it rather failed the romance part) , so I gave this series a chance. So far almost everyone has commented on the obvious lack of chemistry (well, there is a little of it between Donbaek and Dennis) , and has lamented about the dead fish kisses . Which leave a French person like me totally dumbfounded . Before I started watching BLs, I had no idea kisses could even be executed like this . What they really lust after apparently is each other's mugs and toothbrushes, that brought some much needed sparkle in their eyes . The U-haul truck moment had me giggle inside . Is the way they kept adding baubles ( litterally "balls" in French) to the Christmas tree meant to be subliminal ? In the manhwa they were cacti ! As for the series in general , it's like watching a lava lamp : pretty, slowly moving, not really understanding how it works, patterns tend to repeat, would put me to sleep if the episodes were any longer. But I agree that it still is a good thing that K-BLs are at least trying to show same-sex couples doing couplely things.
