The movie only adapt the first chapter of the novel, titled JaeHee, It's the tale of the friendship between the narrator and the girl he cohabited with in his youth...
The drama adaptation is about the whole book.

I made my assumptions based on what happened with Wonderland...
And regarding having a lot of followers, it means absolutely nothing when it comes to buy a ticket. Word of mouths is what brings people into theaters and so far the hype is non existent, most reviews saying the script is boring and unoriginal, complete waste of time. It only brought 15k people today and it's only been a week since it's release...😬

I might be naive, but i believe that people do movies mainly for the public and not some professional critics or pretty awards. Can you imagine a stage play with no audience but only a bunch of critics, paid to be there ?!
Jeon DoYeon is certainly not Ma DongSeok, but i'm sure she would have appreciated a better outcome.

That being said, the good thing when a movie fail in theaters is that they are available more quickly on OTT , that way we'll see for ourselves if it deserved better...
