LOTFG has only 18M playback volume/ep considering it's a big ip drama, it's a flop. Ask the chinese fans, they will describe it to you. All those charts don't represent any drama's individual success. LOTFG didn't have to compete with any strong drama for which it was easier to get high ranking despite the poor result. Just like Moonlight Reunion, it flopped despite ranking 1 every day in different charts.

Except for the big actors who gets bundle of scripts everytime, the agency has to collect roles for the not so popular actors because of not having any representative work as a male lead. He was playing supporting roles not main ones. There's plenty of actors like him who are playing supporting roles but can't get main lead script because of having no powerful agency. For example Riley wang, Jeremy Tsui, Xi Zhi Guang. They are good at acting. Heyu got to work with Esther, MZY for 2nd collaboration is the proof. Those are top rated actresses right now. Without past experience as ML it's impossible to get roles out of own ability. Investors are not stupids.
