Overall the drama has stayed true to the novel. The latest episode makes me want to read the novel again after…
I feel exactly the same way! I am caught up with all aired episodes now (except anything that came out today), and will likely start rereading the novel while waiting for new episodes to drop.

I absolutely love this director's work, from his choice of novels (Blossom, Pursuit of Jade) to his wonderful way of telling a story, to the beauty of his cinematography. As AvenueX says, he also has a real talent for making people look their most beautiful, and the actors who star in his dramas have seen a dramatic increase in popularity - look what Blossom did for Li RunYu's career - although I discovered him and ONLY struggled through LLtG for his second ML character (without shipping him with the FL - he was just my favorite character. I didn't care at all about the lead characters in that drama).

I didn't realize he was the director until recently, and then it made sense to me that I kept thinking that Zhang Linghe was getting more beautiful as he aged - there is something about the way he looks in this drama that makes him even better looking than usual. When I realized who the director was, I immediately understood why he looked so gorgeous! I am unfamiliar with the FL so I don't know if she looks more beautiful, but she is very beautiful in this drama for sure!

just finished episode 26. the best drama so far of 2026, and likely to stay that way for me! Just realized the director is Zeng Qing Jie, my favorite Chinese director, who has directed my favorite short dramas, and my favorite 2024-25 drama Blossom. No wonder this story is so well told and the cinematography is so gorgeous! ♥️

Just started this drama a few days ago and I'm VERY sorry I did because I am staying up too late watching it - addictive.

I read the novel about a year ago and the drama seems to be tracking it pretty closely. The only complaint I have is that I have to admit it bothers me that the FL isn't a bit smarter, more educated, and more refined. I mean, I absolutely love that she's stronger than most men, knows martial arts, and fights off the bad guys with ease. I also love her fight-now-talk-later attitude, but seriously - she can barely read! And doesn't understand "big words" or literary/historical references other characters make. The huge social and educational gap between her and ML is glaringly obvious, and such a huge gap makes any relationship between them pretty unbelievable in that era. She's not just a commoner - she's an uneducated butcher. And ML is a scholar, military leader and a member of the nobility. For me, it's just too big of a gap for a historical drama.

However, despite that, I am really enjoying the story, acting, scenery, directing, etc. This is definitely one of my favorite of Zhang Ling He's dramas and characters. He is getting more handsome as he ages!

She's not actually a con-artist FL, that is forgotten about after a few minutes.Out of curiosity, what makes her…
sorry - I was talking about 2 different dramas in that post and it was poorly written!
I don’t like the FL in Your Sensibilty, My Destiny at all. The actress who is one of my favorites is the one in Scent of Time, Zhou Ye. I think she is pretty, snd she usually does a very good job choosing the roles she takes. The only drama of hers where I thought she was miscast - or misdirected perhaps - was the recent The Female General. She was IMO too bubbly and feminine, so the idea that she was a brilliant military strategist who (1) successfully posed as a man and (2) was accepted as a leader by troops of rough soldiers was simply too unbelievable for me. I loved the ML, and I love her also, but her in that role ruined the drama for me.I had read the novel, and just thought she was seriously miscast in the role.

Getting back to Your Sensibility, My Destiny, I finally dropped it. It just wasn’t a good story, and I agree that the FL was not a very good actor. Plus I just didn’t like her character. I don’t recall ever seeing her in any other drama. She is definitely not a favorite of mine!

I really wanted to like this, but I had to drop. Purposely leaving people alive that want to kill you, just to…
Even worse IMO was that after she decided to hate the 2nd ML, she constantly accused him of lying to her, when he made a point to tell her repeatedly that he did not and would not ever love her! And then blaming him for her father's and brother's deaths, as if it were his fault! Ridiculous and stupid. I haven't finished the last episode but know she doesn't die, which is a huge disappointment.

I thought I was the only one who felt this way.He asked the princess for payment for the information she asked,…
I found the character totally over the top, which actually made him rather entertaining, despite being unlikable. I actually hated the princess far more than the psycho emperor, who at least had the excuse of being a classic DSMI-5 psychopath. I mostly had to fast forward through all of her scenes, as she was so intolerable as a character. She can't be redeemed for me. I was hoping she died, but I accidentally saw a spoiler so guess she doesn't. Too bad.

I stopped watching the drama after episode 28. The whole “surviving a burial” thing seemed like too much.
These period wuxia dramas all have an element of fantasy, so "reality" isn't really applicable. These martial artists avoid death after poisoning, what would be fatal sword impalements (to the gut in an era without surgery to repair the perforated colon?? not survivable), falling into water and staying long past the time a person would drown (which is frequent, so it's well established they don't have the normal breathing requirements!), and surviving falling off cliffs that are hundreds of feet high. They can even cultivate to the point that they add many decades to their lives, so they live well into their hundreds, still youthful and strong in appearance, with only their hair turning white.

However, I thought that the whole multiple stabbing and burying scene was a bit excessive. My objection wasn't really in him not dying (that was a given since there were 10 episodes left and he was the ML in a fantasy wuxia drama), but that it just took up too much screen time with unnecessary detail, especially the burying part.

Love all my cdrama female generals! 💪 But I have to say, Fu Yi Xiao was definitely the best of them 🤭❤️
I agree. She was 100% believable as a formidable female warrior who was admired and followed by men, which was definitely not the case in the female general drama I watched just prior to this one.

I really loved both of the leads in this drama, both as individuals and as a couple.

Will Princess have any character development? For me, Princess is a strong character, but the problem I have is…
The answer is NO. She was so annoying I could barely stand watching her screentime and started skipping her scenes - especially her romantic scenes with the psycho, amoral emperor. Her obsession with 2nd ML was as stupid as her subsequent hatred of him. It was crazy how she blamed him for the problems that her own behavior led or contributed to, as if the death of her father (and supposedly her brother) had anything to do with 2nd ML, or her obsession and determination to defy her father/brother and help him escape was somehow his fault instead of hers. Both were wildly over the top .

Her subsequent decision to become a 'ho and sell herself to the psycho emperor in exchange for favors was disgusting. I was watching on IQIYI and had to turn off the comments because of the viewer comments finding the emperor "sexy" and wanting the two to pair up. I just don't understand the type of woman who is attracted to a psychopath. It's emotionally unhealthy and disturbing to me. Yes, the "bad boy" is attractive, but "bad" has to be within reason. Nonconformist, yes. Edgy, yes. Mysterious, yes. But cruel? Only being attracted to married women and raping them. Total decadence with no interest in the responsibilities of governing an empire. Cunning and sly, but not particularly intelligent. Vulgar and mean. The only thing enjoyable about his scenes was when he told her the truth about her reprehensible, immature behavior with his brother, and how ridiculous it was for her to blame anyone but herself for her own bad and/or irresponsible acts.

I can see that I, as a viewer, am supposed to start admiring her "growth" when she decides to reject the 2nd ML and use the emperor to get thing she wants done, but as usual, that type of "redemption" doesn't work for me. I hated her immature, self-centered, obsessive character from start to finish. I wasn't particularly a big fan of the 2nd ML, but he was a million times better than his psycho brother and should have been the emperor. He had valid reasons to seek revenge on his stepmother and brother for the horrors they inflicted on him. He was a cold but sympathetic figure. At least one could understand why he was the way he was.

I was hoping both she and the psycho emperor would die before the end of the drama.

I loathed both of their characters and could barely watch their time on screen, together or separately. Started skipping when they became "romantic." Vomit.

I am at episode 20 and am really enjoying this drama. I like the story, the characters, and the way the actors are bringing their characters to life. That being said, I absolutely loathe the way the director constantly cuts to the clenched hands of EVERY actor to show tension/anger/anxiety and whatever emotion is being shown. It’s annoying and totally unnecessary as the actors are capable of showing those emotions with their expressions and body movements and voices. It’s being so overused that it starts to diminish the actors’ abilities, like they need closeups of their hands clenching to convey their emotions. They don’t. it’s just a constant, superfluous and annoying tic the director mistakenly thinks is interesting camerawork.

I want to like this drama because I love Li Yun Rui. But this just isn’t my type of drama and I can’t get into it. Fifteen minutes into episode 3 and I’ve already started over 4 times because I stopped paying attention. I’m done.

But people who love this type of comedy may really enjoy it. I tend to like more serious dramas. I’m just disappointed because after Blossom I’ve been waiting for a new LYR drama.

I started this drama and after two episodes, I'm giving up. I enjoyed the ML - or the demon bad guy who I assume…
I stand by my opinion of BL’s acting, and have seen enough of her performances to feel confident I won’t change my opinion However, I agree with you about The Female General. At first I found the FL’s character improved by making her more feminine and personable. However, by the time it got to the battle scenes, she was totally unbelievable as a person who could lead troops into battle, and even more unbelievable as someone anyone would ever think was a man. Furthermore, the director ruined the drama with the last 6 to 8 episodes with the ridiculous, totally unnecessary storyline of the second ML. It had multiple characters, including the 2nd ML and Emperor, acting wildly out of character, and ruined the drama. I ended up being unable to finish it because it became too ridiculous. Too bad because it started out quite well. I still love the two leads as actors, but the director ruined the story.

she learnt and grew up on the battlefield but was never in court. Prior to her first court appearance she was…
Agreed. Initially I thought the more playful, bubbly personality was fun, but unfortunately, it made it more difficult to transition to the battlefield scenes where she is supposedly coming up with brilliant, innovative strategies to win even when the odds were against it. And the same is true of the more feminine personality - made it even more unbelievable that anyone would have ever mistaken her for a man. As mentioned, one almost always has to suspend belief to accept that a pretty actress is mistaken for a boy in a story, but there are times when it's done well. Maiden Holmes was good,, but probably the best I've seen it done is in the Kdrama Coffee Prince, which is probably my favorite girl-as-boy drama.

However, my main complaint about this drama is the last 8-10 episodes, when all the major characters - especially the 2nd ML and the king - began acting so wildly out of character that the story became ridiculous, annoying, and unwatchable. for me.

Now that you explained your reasoning - navigating political battles (which requires knowledge of the “enemy” and a strong strategy to avoid their traps and eventually defeat them) is comparable to winning on the battlefield - I actually think you have a very valid point. why was she so clueless about the political battles?

I actually thought that was kind of realistic. In the novel, FL was pretty dumb when it came to academics. She was always at the bottom of the class, and she was trying as best she could. The harder part was how she could be so dumb and yet such a brilliant military strategist. But whatever.

I feel like there are three camps of viewers for this drama hahahaha1 - The ones in it for the visuals, the romance,…
Excellent summation of viewers. My experience mirrors yours. That ridiculous, totally unnecessary added storyline with the second ML at the end killed off the lingering - but definitely fading - interest I had in the drama. I was already hovering on the far edge of Camp 2, but all the characters suddenly acting wildly out of character in those last 6 or 7 episodes sent me marching directly to Camp 3.

I can watch a drama for which I have to suspend belief on some parts - 99% of the Chinese and Korean dramas with women posing as men require that - but I can't enjoy one that forces me to suspend belief on EVERYTHING. And that's especially true when I have read the underlying novel and see how a good writer and director could make the drama even better, but instead ruin the best parts of it and add storylines that are ridiculous.

Not to be repetitive, but I'm rereading Blossom right now, and the entire time I'm reading I'm thinking of how much better the drama was, and how the VERY talented director maintained the important storylines, but deleted and added others that made the drama more interesting than the drama. Just as an example, the director chose to make the reincarnation (or start over) begin when the FL was a teenager, and in the drama we have to wade through her being 3, 4 and 5 years old for WAY too many chapters. It's boring. The entire opening scenes of the drama don't ever happen in the novel - that was the directors/writer's brilliance. Instead, the ML doesn't even get introduced in the novel until almost 40 chapters, around the time the FL has finally left infancy and become a teenager. I can't help compare it to Joy of Life, where Fan Xian transmigrates into the body of a 1 or 2 month old infant, but the 20 or so chapters of his childhood are hilarious and interesting. Bravo to the director/writer of Blossom for greatly improving the novel's slow, boring start, and adding in opening scenes that enthrall the viewer immediately, and also immediately establish a fated connection between the 3 main characters.
