The CGI is the worst I've seen in a cdrama so far. And that fake baby doll! Really breaks one's suspension of disbelief.

First episode - She recognised his sword and he knew who she was, didn't quite understand if they have a history or was it their first time meeting.

1 episode in and yep, so bad. Hope the story would be worth sticking around.

Kudos to those who managed to endure beyond the 2nd episode. I couldn't. If you enjoy ridiculously slow pace, poorly written dialogue and cringe interaction between the leads (not to mention the jarring English dub and that one song that repeats every scene) - this is the boring series for you.

I thank the algorithm god for suggesting this series. Lioness queen goes to great lengths to protect her sons during an attempted coup orchestrated by political rivals. Court intrigue done right. Don't sleep on this one!

I stopped watching on episode 11 due to time constraints, but am thinking about returning. Does the series get better further on? I felt no chemistry between the leads and action sequences were very much missing altogether.

She is assumed to be the concubine of the chief bandit, but I it's probably going to be a mislead. However, the ML is betrothed to his cousin in a political arrangement.

Waiting for the action the trailer promised to kick in (other than that brilliant first scene)... 😩 What a snore so far.

I also tried it given the high rating and the dark aesthetics, but I just don't click with it. It happens.

Endearing and sweet, the leads were great, the relationship was healthy and mature, but overall the story was pretty uneventful and unnecessarily prolonged, and the music was seriously terrible.

TW: Dropped this after FL tried to force herself sexually on ML (episode 5).

Agree to disagree about the first episode, but I haven't watched enough cdramas to make any comparison.

I didn't make the comparison to MJTY, someone in the comments here did on the day the first episode of AJTL aired, piquing my interest. I'm actually a newbie, having watched only three cdramas in total (2 loved and 1 dropped), so I'm still finding my own personal taste. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Perhaps you've pinpointed it correctly - the first episode had a lot of setup, making it less engaging. Taking everyone's advice, I will continue a few more episodes before deciding. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

While it didn't have a lengthy exposition, it also didn't have anything that really piqued my interest. Someone here compared it to MJTU, which I loved, but based on this episode it really falls short. Perhaps this one is, as you wrote, not my cup of tea.
