I've noticed that female characters in web series are better written.

It's been a while since I've seen a xianxia so I'll probably start with TTEOTM. I found the trailer epic and I have read good comments about Luo Yunxi's acting.

There are actors I follow for their talent, others for their work ethic (like Yang Yang and Dilraba). I have almost consumed all of Hu Ge and Chen Xiao's projects and that's because I like them quite a lot. I am currently interested in Jing Boran and Li Yitong.

I find Chen Xiao's character refreshing, I don't want to see male characters with a Mary Sue complex. They are common in wuxia/xianxia and I'm tired of them because of the lack of innovation. It's easy to throw characters that are good-looking, smart and strong with a great personality that makes them stand out in every discipline, lol. They end up being one-dimensional and predictable.

P.S. The female characters here are capable and I'm glad. I'm also tired of the naive, clumsy and childish type.

Tomorrow is the release of two episodes of The Ingenious One, I'm excited (I am a fan of the source material) as I personally haven't loved anything from China released this year.
