Other reason i could think of is Armin would have fallen in love with Charlie misunderstanding him as the person who is helping him & Thada dont want to spoil his happiness so he stayed away still without letting him know he is the actual person & continued to help him from far away.

I think Armin OG guiding star would be Thada who helped him in his hard days but mistook Charlie as that person & fell in love wit him. Thada though he loves Armin he didnt let Armin know he was that person, might be becoz of his family enemies (Step bro) or some other reason ? So this timeloop is for Armin to realise who is his true love & Thada to give himself a chance thats why fate brings them together often this time.
