We don't know if Nuengs family business is part of the mafia. Sure they own casinos as part of their overall business…
You're correct that we don't know the link between Nueng's family and the mafia but it is strongly hinted at at several points. But while we the audience know where the real threat lies they don't. I agree too that the core of the story is just as you said and this would be awesome to watch unfold. I just wish it was executed better.
While I enjoy the acting and the chemistry among the cast there's one huge gaping plot hole that bothers me. Where…
Fair point but even if we accept that before the assassination security was lax as a norm after the head of the family was murdered in the streets by yet unknown assailants for unknown motives surely a family with the means and resources this family is portrayed as having would have done more that hire their driver's son to protect their only son and heir. At least in the context of Where Your Eyes Linger and Golden Blood the same aged bodyguards were highly trained agents not fishermen. No disrespect to fishermen. Again, maybe if we didn't see the small army the second family has working for it it would be easier to ignore.

First of all calm down. There's no need to get heated and disrespectful over my critique. Second, I never said anybody else should drop. I just pointed out a flaw I found in the script as the reason I'm dropping it. It's not a big deal. Some people agree. Some people disagree. Some agree but don't mind. And that's okay. I'm a fan of the cast and the director and I was really looking forward to this. But I just couldn't get passed that issue. I appreciate you giving me permission to drop it through.
Sorry if I'm not willing in this case to make excuses for this humongous plot hole. It's good that you can draw comparison with billionaires in NYC and your experience but context is everything. Even if we dispel with the "delusional Hollywood bullshit" in the context of this story it still makes no sense at all. This scenario works great in the context of a series like Where Your Eyes Linger or Golden Blood but not here.
FYI I don't draw inference from western media but other Thai dramas like F4, KinnPorche, Unforgettable Night and 3 Will Be Free ( one of my personal favourites by the same director) etc. Not to mention dramas from orher Asian countries like Korea featuring conglomerate heirs. Hollywood doesn't even compare.

PS - I hope I didn't whine too much.
