I don't think it's that complex. People don't want to support the man that did the bad thing. Watching his show is a kind of support. I know you said he already got paid for the role but it's not that simple. If it was actors wouldn't have to do publicity and interviews begging fans to watch their shows.
I choose to think of it as supporting the rest of the cast and crew not him. So long as they distance themselves from his actions. If the show is to be saved that's what needs to happen. The producers have to come out in front of this and throw him under the bus essentially. Even if it's not how they know him to be - he could have been the nicest guy on set for all we know.
It reminds me of one of my favorite shows Like in the Movies. Turns out the creator was an asshole. Does that mean people shouldn't watch it now because of his mistakes. I hope not. His actions also jeopardized future projects with this story and that's just sad. Not as horrible as what he's alleged to have done but still.

Me? If it comes out and it's any good I'll prob watch it even though I'm completely against what he's convicted of doing. Who knows it might turn out to be a guilty pleasure. 🤫
I don't know why people are dropping this, the one who did these horrible things is the actor and not the character…
It's unfortunate but not unreasonable. Some people will watch a crappy show just to support an actor they like. Likewise, some people will not watch a great show to avoid supporting an actor they don't like. You shouldn't hold it against them either way.
