Why should someone punch JW? He is dealing with a lot already. It might come off as selfish to selfish people but he is actually going through it. Brother's death, asshole father, school pressure then his comfort zone almost dying in front of him. Don't trying to say that what he is doing to JH is right, but he thinks JH is better off without him, hence pushing him away.
