Exactly, thats all this ending was for. The last ep could have been out of a completely different show for how tonally different it was, it did not link up with the series at all. I couldnt even feel sad or invested in the last ep because it was like I had no connection to the series anymore it was so different to any of the other episodes, I was just angry and disappointed at the poor writing

Yu Xi Gu is dead, he isn't in the last episode and its a time skip to years on where we see Hao Ting basically depressed all the time still

Completely agree, I loved the characters and relationships and how they developed, it was my ultimate BL drama and right up there in my ultimate favourites, it was that good.
But now.... I'm just dissapointed and angry, it came out of nowhere and seemingly for no reason or than to shock the audience. I love the actors, but I can safely use this drama as an example as to why I don't normally watch airing series. What a let down, that episode completely soured everything else for me.
