even if they are never romantically together i feel like they are found family or something in the industry. there's a certain level of trust, respect, and "tacit understanding" (a term i've seen thrown around a lot when talking about them).
they're so cute and sweet to one another but it comes from a feeling of safety or something that other ppl can see

I don't know why ppl have such an aversion to BE? Not all dramas should be HE or BE. Life has both and there should be a variety of stories to tell both. I think for xianxia BE happens often from what I've seen bc a common topic is good vs evil, immortal vs demon, born or nurtured. Not everything can be solved and love can't conquer all. I think they're so tragic bc ppl may try their hardest to change their fate or be good but sometimes it doesn't promise an HE.
with TTEOTM tantaijin and lisusu try so hard to change his fate but they can't change the fact that he's the devil fetus, he does learn that he can change how he deals with it, he does have choices but not sometimes the ones we want or hope for. Instead of love can conquer all, i think BE is more fitting. It's grim but fitting for the story's main themes and character development.
Just my opinion bc I actually have not seen a ton of Cdrama's so can't really speak to trends though.

I watched on Youtube and thought the subs were good but idk if there are better ones out there. If you watch on the Youku Youtube channel make sure to use the subbed version (ep 1 has ~ 3million views, use that one) and avoid the automated english dub version like the plague!!

I recommend this show if you like fantasy (xianxia) and intense shows. You can't have this one on in the background while working on something else and actually have to pay attention if you want it to make sense/have the full effect. I recommended my friend to TTEOTM as her first Cdrama and she's watching it rn and mentioned within the first min that the male lead is hot lol. But she's has it on while cutting fruit 😭 so I don't think she's getting the full effect. She's getting confused about who's speaking and it's either cause she's not used to the production style or it's bc she's cutting fruits 😭😭
