When I started watching it, I read some comments here about an unsatisfactory ending and thought about giving up. I'm so happy that I decided to see it through to the end!!! Excellent acting, plots, twists and turns. And I really liked the ending. Super worth it.
I think the poster and the summary gave a wrong idea of what was coming. If you think it is a soft sweet nice romantic story boy you got it wrong. It has a vast number of annoying people, the biggest of all being Jo Ji Young, an unresolved and unpunished bullie plot, a crime, and the main couple is unromantic and has incredible difficulty expressing themselves. For me, it wasn't even enough.
Perhaps I watched too many crime/investigative dramas and am tired of police corruption/incompetence. 100 against 3 good officials is a bit too much. The whole drama is about connecting the present with the past, and the 3 have a big problem with communication. Make it make sense. Dropped at ep 7.
The performances by the cast are nothing short of extraordinary. Park Sung Woong delivers a stellar portrayal of the Captain, capturing the character's depth and complexity with an authenticity that feels palpable. The chemistry between Park Sung Woong and Jung Kyung Ho is delightful, bringing a heartwarming dynamic that makes their journey all the more relatable. The production quality is exceptional, demonstrating immense attention to detail in set design and costumes that truly transport viewers into the world of the series. It creates an immersive experience that is hard to forget. Life on Mars is more than just a show—it's an experience. It challenges you, moves you, and ultimately leaves you with a sense of wonder. Whether you're a fan of Action, Mystery, Psychological, Comedy, Time Travel, this series is an absolute must-watch. Bravo to the entire cast and crew for creating something truly special.
I can't believe I waited so long to watch IC after seeing over 400 kdramas. This series is truly exceptional in many aspects and takes viewers on an amazing journey.
If I had to nitpick, though, I wasn't a fan of Yi Seo's hairstyle. Whoever approved that choice should reconsider their decisions.
In a drama, every element surrounding the story and the performances should enhance the experience, not distract from it. Aspects like cinematography, costumes, hairstyles, editing, make up, music, and color palettes should always remain in the background, supporting the narrative and the acting. They should never overshadow them.
If you find yourself focusing on hair, outfits (like Min Jung earrings) or overwhelming background music during a poignant moment, then the production or direction has missed the mark.
It's certainly among the finest dramas I've ever watched, not just in the realm of Korean dramas, but across a broader spectrum. It's a shame that it doesn't have a second or third season, especially when many other shows with multiple seasons can’t match its brilliance. It’s simply impeccable.
What truly set this series apart was the exceptional acting. Beginning with the young actress Himavari and all the young actors who portrayed the students, their chemistry—whether as adversaries or friends—was outstanding. Each of these young performers was remarkable. They deserve all the love and support from the fans, because the high success rate is due to their acting skills. The adults either acted poorly or it was written as unconvincing characters. Teacher Jam consistently wore the most monotonous facial expression, much like her teaching methods. The principal was unstable and insensitive both as a mother and as a principal. All the other adults were useless and clueless, making the whole story imature and even silly. The only intelligent and sensitive character in the entire story was Chatjen, portrayed by the talented Mark Pakin as an autistic young man. While the plot was intriguing, it suffered from poor writing, featuring nonsensical elements and superficial dialogue, and it depicted adults as incapable. On a positive note, the setting was well-crafted, and the editing was done effectively.
The relationship between Saint and Shin was presented as a bromance, but it felt more like a BL narrative intended to attract BL fans, which I found misleading.
As mentioned, the high rating is solely due to the impeccable acting of the young actors.
The villain is the most talented and incredible actor ever, as he portrays evil here but is evangelical, sweet, and adorable in another series. And he is believable int both characters.
This series initially gives the false impression that it focuses on the first responders to arson, crime, or similar events/accidents, but that is not the case. The story revolves solely around two men caught in a cycle of revenge. The various events involving criminals and first responders serve merely as a backdrop to this single plot. On one side is a malicious but powerful criminal, while on the other side is a passionate yet impulsive policeman. Over time, I got bored with so much effort on the part of the criminal trying to frame the policeman and everybody and everything being caught up in this fight. I would say that the title of the series misleads you to think that it's about cases in a random way.
Was Start-up good? I never watched it and I'm looking for something to watch.
SumiLu, it is beautiful, with our amazing Kim Seon Ho. But as I posted it has a love triangle therefore one will lose. I love the OST but I always get nostalgic listening to it.
